Out my reel today and watch the video of my new kitchen cabinets! Yippee!
It doesn’t look like much, but we got the insulation done today, and what a difference it makes! Heat and flies from outside are a thing of the past , and now drywall goes up tomorrow! About a week of drywall, tape and bed, and we’ll be ready for cabinets and trim work! Light at the end of the tunnel!
A not-so-subtle sneak peak! This is actually primer for the new wood, but yes, she’s going pink!
Since yall have been asking about colors in the sunroom, here's a little spash of the color palate I'm using in there. The whole house is really a mix of greens, blues and pinks and all the shades and tones in between. The new sofa is the darker green velvet, and my new swivel/glider lounge chair is the Fabricut blue and white. My facebook market place chair will be recovered in the fun fabrics in the pic. Drapes in the green toile and woven woods on all 11 windows. A cocophany of color, just like I love!
We have the fireplace framed in. I’m going to add a vintage brick as a surround. So much has been done in the last week. I’ll do a video soon. Edit: The mantle is 90 yrs old and came out of a house in the M streets. Probably will be painted….not loving the pine.
A construction zone is my happy place, but I know it’s not exciting to everyone. They finished installing the siding on the addition and doors go on Monday! They still make the siding that is original to the house. All the nasty vinyl siding is coming off to reveal the 1950’s version of this classic siding. We’ll be restoring the house to its original character! Paint color suggestions?
Take a tour with me!
ok friends, It's time to start making decisions about what I want in my kitchen. I've always had a divided sink, but I'm looking at putting a farm sink in this time. If you have a single bowl sink, how do you like it? Im used to having a dish drain on one side, so we'd be teaching an old dog new tricks. What's your opinion? (yes, I know i can get a divided farm sink, and that's an option. )
I hope you all have a Happy and blessed Easter Day!
Finished! We’ll, maybe. I’m thinking about putting something inside the little
blue dish, but “I’ll think about that tomorrow, Scarlet.” I like the way it turned out!
I thought the fireplace needed a little embellishment! I’m going to continue down the sides and then it will be grout time. This was a green chinoiseire ginger jar that someone’s rambunctious labradoodle knocked off the table. Too pretty to throw away!
I’m about to start a new project, ya’ll. Yes, I already have 18 other things going, but this sounded fun for today! Welcome to ADHD decorating!
I love floral arrangements…. Call me old fashioned, but when your container is a goddess head who now looks like Medusa, I suppose quirky is also a good description too!
I’m looking at wallpaper combinations for my new mudroom/laundry. Here are 3 of my favorite combinations. What do you like?
Selecting this wallpaper was one of the first decisions that made for my small little living room. I love it even more than I thought I would! Now to get finished and styled!
Progress is slow on the extension so I thought I’d get started on a few projects going into the house. This may not be the first thing I tackle but it’s the newest acquisition. It’s pretty rough, so I’ll probably have to paint it but it’s a great fit and has beautiful details. Time to get my hands dirty.
Jack and I are watching the concrete guys lay the forms for our new sunroom. Oh how we wish we could speed things up!

ALL gone! Clean slate and ready for concrete! Building back is not a dream any more!
I thought y’all might like to see a better pic of the vanity area in the bathroom. The mirror is one that I picked up years ago while thrifting. It’s plastic and it’s been several colors over the year. Going with lavender was a risk but I love it with the paper which is a mural, meaning no piece is like another. Happy to answer questions!
Thought y’all might like to see what the cottage will look like when we’re finished with the build. For reference, the north elevation is the front. The new sunroom is the area with all the windows and I’ll finally have a fully enclosed garage, extended kitchen and a laundry/mudroom! Lots more to do, but it’s good to see something happening!
Demo Day 1!
Yes, we are finally moving forward on making Jones street my little dream cottage! After taking 4 months to get our permit, it’s finally moving forward! More to come!
What a crazy year it's been, but I hope that the Spirit of Christmas can right the wrongs and calm our souls that we may go forward with lessons learned and optimism for the new year. We have so much to be grateful for.
Keeping up with Jones - Day 18 (I think!) Packing has fried my brain, and I'm still not ready for Tuesday's move! Lot's of progress has been made which I've only seen in pictures because I have to PACK! The drywall work is all done...smooth walls all over! Painting is next, but I'll be moved in by then (yeah, not ideal) The shower tile is completed and Monday the plumber will set the toilet and install all the beautiful fixtures. My antique window arrives on Monday too. Flooring is going in today! Yay! I'm going over tomorrow to see everything so I'll have pictures to show. With Matt's help, I'm going to get the vanity out of the box, put together a desk and kitchen island, paint the insides of my closets (they are gray...ug) install some shelf paper and put together a dog run for the pups. Then it's back home for one more day of packing. Tuesday will be here before I know it!
Keeping up with Jones Day13
I promised you something pretty! Here's the before picture of the one and only bathroom. As you can see, I've made a few changes to make it more functional and much more to my tastes. The beautiful background is actually a wall mural that will be done on all the walls....and to think I used to paint these! And don't be surprised if the plain white vanity makes a transformation as well. Gone is the tub being replaced with a "just the right size" shower covered in this hand made Italian tile in shades of blush and bone...so pretty! I'll be using gold fixtures throughout. The smaller stained glass window gives a nod to days gone by and brings some character to the space. I'm still making decisions on lighting and mirrors, but you'll be the first to know. I have to have a working bathroom by move in, which is quickly approaching, so some things will have to wait till I get in, but I'll keep you posted on the progress!
Keeping up with Jones - Day 9 I realize not everyone loves a construction site like I do, but I promise I'll be showing the pretty stuff really soon. They removed the wall separating the kitchen from this add-on space that will become my laundry/pantry/kitchen extention. One of the quirkly things we found is that the only 36" door into the house was the one off the carport, so big furniture would have to live in that funky back room because it wasn't coming through the 30" openings! By removing this wall, we now have access to the rooms where the big things go....appliances, sofa, chairs etc. So weird! I've got big plans for that back space...stay tuned!
