Such a great day celebrating Pearl's 1 year anniversary at the house of rat aka kiddie Vegas aka Chuck E. Cheese!
I love what I do!

The only thing better than working with these two individually, is working with them together! ( and of course, being able to hold camp). We had a great day at the Austin Aquarium! So proud of Madison and Pearl!๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ๐ŸฆŽ๐Ÿข๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿฆ†

My son Jordan had to have an EEG to address his profound stuttering. He did an amazing job through the procedure which is incredible since he struggles with sticky stuff. After it was over I let him choose where we would go for lunch. He chose Chuck E Cheese where we met another Jordan on the spectrum that loves Chuck E. The two of them meeting, and this picture, fills my heart!
Still working for our youth with disabilities.

Dear Quest Supporters,

With a very heavy heart, I want to to let y'all know that at this time, Quest will not be able to move forward. The pandemic has effected us and I haven't yet been able to gain traction. I am NOT giving up, and hope to be able to resume very soon. Staffing, finances, and other Covid trickle down effects prevent us from at least the first session of summer camp, but I am continuing to work to get Quest back on track.
Thank you for your continued support. Keep those fingers crossed that we can recover soon.
Quest Academy of Austin is everything to me.

Shout out to the Austin Aquarium! Yet another business allowing and including Pearl and Madison to work and learn.
Today Madison added another skill, in addition to filling "capsules" with food for the animals, she learned how to fill the machines so guests can purchase the food AND she fed the otters some fish!!
I soo love this work!

Hey everyone!
I am always searching for businesses where our Quest students can build and grow their vocational skills. In addition to Old Navy, H-E-B, Chuck E. Cheese and Sonic, I am currently aligning Quest with the Austin Aquarium. Madison, Pearl, and I are volunteering at the Aquarium and we all love it! We portion the fish and bird food and place in capsules where we have to "snap" the lid on. Both Madison and Pearl are doing great at it!
Looking forward to continued work with my girls, and the rest of our Quest students!

Hello everyone,
Whew, 2022 has been rough for my son and I, but I am super encouraged about this upcoming summer and a loooong overdue Quest summer camp. I'm in the beginning stages of preparation and am looking for both staff (especially male staff) as well as students. If you know anyone, please send my way! Also, stay tuned for some YUMMY FUNdraisers!
Thanks for all your support during these difficult times. Can't wait for 2022 Quest Summer Camp!

Wow, just wow! I had one of my most amazing times with my girl Madison! Today was our first day volunteering at the Austin Aquarium and I could NOT be more proud of my girl! They had us cleaning the outside of animal tanks which Madison did willingly, but I also got to see her so happy, engaging, showing empathy, and sharing her vast knowledge of animals with me. The crew there is ready to welcome and embrace Madison and all my other Quest Academy students and I couldn't be happier or more fulfilled. You Rocked it today Maddie! 02/02/2022

So excited about the possibilities I feel tomorrow will bring for my girl Madison! Send us good juju for a successful first volunteer day at Austin Aquarium!

Hello Quest friends and supporters!
I'm currently working on getting one of our Quest students, Madison, a job at the Austin Aquarium. We watched videos on animals that we saw when we went there. These pics are Madison watching videos so she can "help animals feel better and talk to them like Dr. DooLittle".
Fingers crossed we can soon start with volunteer position that can turn in to employment.

Happy New Year all!
I know it's been a while since I've posted. 2022 started off with my son and I getting Covid๐Ÿ˜ฅ.
We're all better thankfully and today was my first day back to work and what a great day it was!
I got a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. Pearl made a friend, Thea, at the park today and they played beautifully together. I didn't get a picture, but Thea also pushed Pearl in the swing. A beautiful example of innocence and inclusion without hate or bias.
Here's hoping y'all are safe and healthy, and that Quest can FINALLY resume this summer!
Healthy wishes to all,

Hello Quest friends!
This is Madison whipping up a batch of dog treats! ๐Ÿ•.
As a way of Madison having assigned tasks, a sense of ownership, and making her own money, Madison will be making dog treats! We're working on a recipe and hope to begin soon.
Today's batch was dog approved, but we're still working on the recipe and process. Stay tuned for "Madison's Munchies" coming soon!

Hello everyone!
I hope that you all are managing as we continue to be effected by the pandemic. I am hoping to start camp back up this summer๐Ÿคž
In the mean time I am job coaching a couple of our Quest students.
Shout out to Pearl who I work with at Old Navy and Chuck E. Cheese!
Pearl is working more and more independently which of course is my goal, even if it means I coach myself out of a job. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Working with our students is the very best and fulfills me to my soul. Here's to reuniting with the rest of our students soon!

Happy Fall Y'all๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

Hello everyone!
There are many things that fulfill me about working with our youth. One of them is seeing their growth and confidence.
Pearl has been working at Chuck E. Cheese for a little over two months and is doing great work! Aside from needing some occasional redirection, she is working mostly independently! Her tasks include sanitizing machines, filling napkins, assembling pizza boxes and Chucky cups, and cleaning windows. And to quote Pearl " you're very proud of me". Yes sweet girl, I am VERY proud of you!

Grateful to do this work! Can't wait for Quest camp 2022!

Hey everyone!

Here is a video of my very own Jordan who loves Chuck E. Cheese which prompted me to get Pearl a job there. They both love this place "where a kid can be a kid"
So grateful that they support our kids!

Greetings ghouls and goblins!
Today I got two of our Quest kids together for some pumpkin painting and cookie making!
Madison made a glitter pumpkin for me, and Pearl made hers very Van Gogh, she's an accomplished artist.
Miss all my other Quest kids, but grateful I got to have a "mini Quest" day.
Wishing you all a fun and safe Halloween!

Hello Quest supporters and friends!
As some of you know, I am a former 21 year Partner (employee) of H-E-B. During my tenure I was hugely supported both personally and professionally by H-E-B and was always grateful.
I left H-E-B in 2015 and am STILL supported!
In 2016 I was gifted Quest Academy of Austin by another H-E-B leader and his wife, and H-E-B is still there for me!
Since 2016, H-E-B has provided Quest Academy of Austin with a grant that supports our summer program, as well as supporting Quest kids and campers working in the stores. We recently received our grant for 2021/2022 and I couldn't be more grateful.
These pics are a small sampling of Partners and Leaders at H-E-B supporting Quest kids.
Please know that H-E-B supports MANY communities in MANY ways. Please shop your local H-E-B and know that not only do you get great product, your money goes to support your community!

Hello everyone!

This is Madison! She is a Quest camper who I now work with in home. These pics are her watering plants, shredding documents, and learning the house entrance code.
She is a delight to work with and is learning more in her 18+ program.
So grateful to do this work!

Greetings Quest friends and supporters!
My heart is full as I reflect on Quest summers past, and my heart is heavy for the last two summers missed due to Covid.
I was hoping to start Saturday respite in September but due to the now Delta variant, I will be postponing respite until a better time.
Quest WILL come back and I can't wait for that time.
In the mean time, please be safe, and the very best wishes for a full and healthy school year!

Greetings Quest friends and supporters!
While this time is difficult for me since I haven't held summer camp due to Covid, this is the next best thing. Madison and Pearl are Quest camp mates and today we had a social fun day together! Scavenger hunt, swimming, and socializing! Such a great day! It was the next best thing!
Can't wait until we can have Quest Academy of Austin camp again!

Y'all stay safe!

Hello Quest friends!
Pearl is 3 weeks in to her new job at Chuck E. Cheese and I'm so proud of how she is working at this new job. She is infinitely more confident, ( she told me that she is " doing a fantastic job ๐Ÿ˜‚), very productive, and taking initiative with no direction.
Love when a job placement is so successful. Thank you Arbor Walk Chuck E. Cheese, Pearl and I love working there! (Partly because of the music and fun atmosphere).
Oh, and her putting gas in my car? Life skills!๐Ÿ˜

Photos from Quest Academy of Austin's post 06/26/2021

Hello Quest supporters!Woohoo!Chuck E. Cheese continues to grow Pearl's tasks and she is doing well! Today she filled all the napkin dispensers and assembled the plates, straws, lids bags for when people order pizza!
She loves working there and, well, my 50 something self loves working there too!

Hello Quest Supporters and friends!
Such a great workday for Pearl at Chuck E. Cheese!
We cleaned all the games to keep everyone safe, and assembled 50 pizza boxes!
Pearl is showing initiative and instead of me leading, Pearl is! She's even bossing me around๐Ÿ˜‚, which to me shows confidence. I love when a students skill set matches well with the job!

Happy almost summer everyone!
I'm proud to report another successful job placement! Pearl and I had a great first day at Chuck E. Cheese! The crew are so friendly and supportive!
Pearl asembled Birthday cups and pizza boxes and within the first 10 minutes she had her own assembly style process going. So proud of her!

Shout out to Chuck E. Cheese Arbor Walk for being so receptive to employing those with disabilities. Pearl (and I) have just gotten hired and the process was very welcoming.
Stay tuned for updates, and have a Chuck E. Day! Lol.

Pearl was a focused cleaning machine today! So proud of her. She went from one task to another without direction, took initiative on things not asked of her, and worked at a great pace.
Shout out to Old Navy Lakeline for supporting Pearl and giving her a safe and receptive space to grow and work in her community.

Photos from Quest Academy of Austin's post 04/01/2021

Hello everyone!
As we head to April 2nd, World Autism Awareness day, I want to shout out to Pearl and Madison!
Pearl is the " Clean Queen", and "Sizing " expert at Old Navy, where she is greatly supported. And Madison and I are working on purchasing and paying for her items with her allowance.

So incredibly proud of these two, and grateful to be able to work with them!

Photos from Quest Academy of Austin's post 02/23/2021

Whew, so glad last week is over!!
I got to get out with Pearl today and we decided to visit our friends from Old Navy. They were so excited to see her AND they had her 1 year anniversary pin for her! We're going to start working again but only short hours, thanks Covid. Old Navy has been super supportive of Pearl and other students. Old Navy+H-E-B=Happy Me!

Hello all!
Feeling nostalgic for times passed, as well as hopeful for Quest Academy of Austin times ahead!
These pics reflect, team building, community service, fundraising, job training, arts/crafts, and building relationships.
Can't wait until we can reunite this summer!!

Hello Quest supporters! In these trying times things with Quest Academy have been very different. I'm no longer able to job coach in the way that I used to due to Covid.
And while we can't work INSIDE H-E-B, we can sure wrangle some carts OUTSIDE on this gorgeous Austin day! Pearl brought in 63 carts AND sanitized!
Quest plus H-E-B= happy me!
Here's wishing you all a safe, healthy New Year! It IS going to get better.
Blessings and love to you all!
