⚡Let us tell you about our secret weapon for mental clarity.⚡

You may be familiar with the older differential diagnosis of ADD or ADHD, but it’s now simplified as just ADHD with one of three presentations. The three types of ADHD are; Primarily Inattentive (PI), Hyperactive, or the most common Combined type which is characterized by both impulsive and hyperactive behavior as well as inattention and distractibility.
❤️
While not a medical term, we commonly refer to the cluster of inattentive symptoms as “Brain Fog”. It ranges from general mental fatigue, difficulty thinking, confusion or forgetfulness. Most commonly it presents as difficulty remembering a certain word or someone’s name. It can come and go with varying severity throughout the day, week or even monthly.

We commonly see brain fog in patients suffering from chronic conditions such as:
🧠Migraines
🧠Fibromyalgia
🧠Lyme Disease
🧠Hashimotos
🧠Long Covid
🧠Lupus
🧠Menopause
🧠Insomnia
🧠Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)

…And Many More

When it comes to ‘Brain Fog’ or any cognitive impairment our goto therapy is O3 ReBoot THerapy™. Ozone is an incredibly versatile therapy with antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. It’s healing properties can increase energy 🏃‍♂️ , boost your immune system 💪 and reduce brain fog, helping patients achieve clarity! 🧠

💡 Did you know that October is National ADHD Awareness Month?

Dr. Brown was diagnosed with ADHD in his 20’s, and like most adults who are diagnosed later in life, it was as if “everything clicked” and his whole childhood and academic career suddenly made sense. He credits this diagnosis with helping him go on to obtain his masters degree, and subsequent Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

“Physician Heal Thyself” would be another appropriate quote for this post since understanding how the ADHD brain works, and in Dr. Brown’s case - how to treat it with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is crucial to overcoming the negative impacts it has on one’s life.

ADHD rarely exists in a vacuum. Those with ADHD often have one or more of several common comorbidities such as
⭕Depression
⭕Anxiety
⭕Learning Disabilities
⭕Anger Issues
⭕OCD
⭕Overwhelming Shame Bordering on PTSD
- among other potentially debilitating conditions.

📅 This month we are going to focus on all aspects of living with ADHD and natural solutions for minimizing the detrimental impacts it can have on one’s life.

✅ Make sure to Like and Follow if you or anyone you know is struggling with ADHD. Even neurotypicals have ADHD tendencies- you won't want to miss out!

As always, our initial consultation is free if you’d like to discuss your health and how Acupuncture may help.

Meet your team with one of the most familiar faces here at the clinic - Tracey (and her sweet cats Ham & Kuro). When Tracey isn’t taking care of you all here she’s spending time in nature, exploring small Texas towns, and ghost hunting! Tracey’s favorite part of the day is getting a smile and laugh out of everyone who visits us! 🤍

Let’s put a name to the face (and instagram posts)! Meet our social media manager, and client specialist Ci! Ci came to our clinic after meeting Lucas through acupuncture. Ci studied at The Chi Institute for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, and is certified in tcvm, animal reiki and tui na! Their path to medicine was lead by the owl in photo when they began their falconry apprenticeship in wildlife rehabilitation! They saw how helpful integrated medicine was for them, and knew they wanted to set forth in helping animals and others find the same sort of relief. Ci’s favorite part about working at the clinic is getting to see people find relief for their pain and suffering, and knowing they were able to support our patients on the path to making this choice for themselves! Feel free to say hey, and show all the cute pictures of your pets to Ci the next time you stop in!

Pericardium 6 (P6) is an acupuncture point that has been proven in controlled trials to help treat nausea and vomiting (including motion sickness and morning sickness).

It's located 2-3 finger widths from the wrist below the two prominent tendons in the arm. If you wiggle your fingers you will see the tendons moving and it will be the spot in the middle of the tendons! Applying pressure to this point is a great way to temporarily relieve these ailments at home.

If you’re dealing with long term nausea form morning sickness, vertigo, motion sickness, chemo side affects, ect - give us a call at 512-632-1996 and book a free consultation!

This is your daily reminder to take a breath, and grab a sip of water! 💦

When it comes to the amount of water you should drink in a day, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Water intake (just like everything involving your health) should be individualized.

Water needs will vary, especially if you're losing water through sweat because you're exercising, or because you're outside on a hot day. A general rule of thumb for healthy people is to drink two to three cups of water per hour, or more if you're sweating heavily!

And - if you’re looking for a quick detox, add in a gallon of water a day for three days.

One of the most important foundations to feeling good, is getting a good nights rest! We highly recommend a 3-2-1 routine to get yourself relaxed and wound down for the night.

3 hours before bed - Do not consume any food or alcohol. Digestion creates energy and heat in your body, and you will want to allow for plenty of time for your body to digest in a waking state.

2 hours before bed - Turn off, and tune out work. You are off the clock, and you deserve to relax! If you struggle to distract yourself from work thoughts, find ways you can read, mediate, do a cross word, or maybe even an adult coloring book! Anything that helps your brain wind down into sleep mode.

1 hour before bed - Shut off all screens, and this does include your tv! We even recommend keeping the tv out of the bedroom if you can help it.

What are some other ways you like to wind down for bed? Maybe a ritual cup of tea? Leave a comment with your favorite bedtime wind down! 🌙

Of course, if this routine doesn't help or you are dealing with serious insomnia, nothing beats Acupuncture for a restorative night's rest.

There are 100 different types of peripheral neuropathy that have been identified. They depend on a combination of disfunction of any combination of the nerve types listed between motor, sensory, and autonomic.

The most common causes we see in the clinic of neuropathy are diabetic, inflammatory, chemo-induced, and even neuropathy from failed back surgeries.

In Chinese medicine, peripheral neuropathy happens when there is a blockage of qi (energy) and blood in the body. Acupuncture is really good at restoring blood flow and stimulating the nerve pathways, and can actually help with never regeneration and preservation with a whole lot less side effects then most medications used to treat neuropathy.

Although we believe there is a place for the use of medications combined with acupuncture, our goal is to find a balance for you to feel your best without dealing with uncomfortable side effects.

If you’ve been thinking about getting acupuncture to treat neuropathy, call to book a free consult today at 512-623-1996!

We often will place these after treatment for wear throughout the day if you need a little extra support! Our employee keeps these on when she is feeling some vertigo, or a lil extra painful than normal and wants to feel a her best for our patients.

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from us - we figured it’s time to re-introduce our clinic and our amazing doctor!

Dr. Lucas Brown, LAC DAOM is the founder of Rosedale Acupuncture & Wellness Center. He has over a decade of experience treating chronic and seemingly hopeless cases. His focus is treating chronic pain, failed surgeries and rheumatoid conditions.

Dr. Brown’s favorite aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine is how well it complements modern western medicine. The folks that feel frustrated, or hopeless with western interventions are our best patients! Alternatively, the ailments Eastern Medicine has the most trouble treating are easily addressed with western medicine. The instinct in a western world, is to seek western medical interventions first. Because of this our clinic ends up being the last resort with the best results.
