We're excited to introduce the newest partner to the Vida Dental family, Dr. Ericka Ryan, DDS. Prior to Dr. Ryan’s relocation to Austin, TX  and Vida Dental Buda, she spent 10 years in NYC. During her time in New York, Dr. Ryan was a faculty member at Columbia School of Dentistry, where she provided hands-on clinical instruction to dental students; while simultaneously running her dental practice in Rockefeller Center. You'll see Dr. Ryan at our Buda location or hiking the Austin trails with her husband and pup!

Fun and easy transformation completed before the thanksgiving holiday. 🦃 Patient wanted to correct deep bite/overbite/overjet and crowding uses. Many of our patients are wanting to get Invisalign during this time saying, “why not, I’m wearing a mask 😷 all day and working from home🏠”

Transforming extraction sites to proper landscapes for implant placement requires hard and soft tissue management. There are many ways to reach the end goal , but the process is basically the same. We completed atraumatic extractions of two hopeless teeth ,to keep blood supply to implants/grafts sound. Then completed immediate implant placement of two implants with burs. We completed hard tissue management using 50/50 corticocancellous allograft with some autograft particles and closed with cytoplast membranes and PTFE sutures. Waited for 6 months for healing and sculpted the newly formed keratinized tissue to ideal form.

A quick and fun transformation using @invisalign. Patient had chief complaints of lower anterior crowding, slight upper spacing, and deep bite. We corrected all this in 9 months, 20 trays, and munchies.

Another orthodontic transformation just completed. Very tough case as patient did not want to have extractions completed. Many dentists’ would state that extractions are a must, which is completely correct ;but ultimately it is the patients decision/desire we must meet. Here we used traditional braces, IPR, bite-blocks, and elastics with a few other tricks to complete this. Amazing result with a very happy patient.

Implant transformation! Patient had ill-fitting dentures and was not happy. We placed 4 implants on top and bottom and made some nice over-dentures. Patient was able to eat steak again, smile confidentially, and not worry about his dentures flying out.

Hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. Tuesday is here and we are back to work. Today we got a cosmetic case that really turned out well for a younger patient. Usually people feel that veneers are only for “older” people, that is not the case at all. With conservative prep-design and using the best materials, we can make a natural smile without removing too much tooth structure. We placed 6 e-max veneers to help restore this young mans smile. .

Little transform with implants today. Patient was missing two upper right front teeth. She hadn’t smiled in a very long time and always avoided bringing any attention to her teeth. What’s amazing here is the confidence and mannerisms that change with a beautiful smile. She started smiling big and putting lipstick on, which was a huge change. Two implants were placed to make this smile, and she will be doing whitening in the future to help blend better. .

Just finished up another beautiful case for our awesome patient. This case took 9 months, 24 trays, 9 attachments, and zero refinements. This case would have been handled many ways, but usually patients opt for the fastest. In the future we will be looking into gum lift and veneers to give the patient an even better smile. .

Fun implant case to showcase today. Patient had a bridge done in another country and has been in pain for over 3 yrs. Also did not like to smile or go out since the prosthesis was broken and metal was showing. We removed all hopeless teeth & infection and placed implants for an . Temp dentures were a huge upgrade and patient was in tears; very rewarding for all involved! .

Transformation Tuesday here again and another beautiful case to show-off. This patient had years of wear, staining, decay, and old composites affecting her smile. We removed all the issues and replaced with beautiful Zirconia cutback with E-Max. Patient was older and had saved up many years to get this done and she couldn’t be happier. .

Another beautiful transformation, this time using traditional braces to help align teeth to ensure proper position/contacts for hygiene, improved esthetics, and better biting forces. We took preliminary impressions once swelling had gone down, completed a diagnostic wax-up, completed preps/tempted, and then delivered bonded . Patient was very happy. Transforming smiles with some implants is always a pleasure. Patient had 4 missing areas on the upper jaw, making it very difficult to smile and eat. We decided to start work on the top with sinus lifts using by . These burs allow us to lift the sinus membrane and then pack bone vertically, avoidingthe traditional lateral window approach. We placed 4 implants after lifting the sinus in each area about 3-4mms. All implants had a initial torque value of 35-50NcM. .

Patient didn’t want to get Invisalign in fear of losing trays and cost. The gums are a little swollen but will heal now that hygiene is more accessible.

Transformation Tuesday! We have another exciting implant case involving upper and lower jaws. Patient has been thru countless procedures to patch up old fillings, crowns, failing root canals, and various other things. Patient just wanted to be able to eat and smile again. So we placed four upper and lower implants. Patient will use his temp denture for 3 months and then we will use to connect the denture to the implants. With four implants we can guarantee esthetics, function, and phonetics.
