Don't know where to start when it comes to establishing a home Yoga practice? Especially in small spaces or when traveling a lot, one of the most important fascets to staying consistent at home is having a designated area to practice in.

Creating a sacred space that's intentional and personal will help you feel more motivated to practice. You can do this by:
1) Finding an area in your place that's clear/easy to clear.
2) Keep your mat and props out on a shelf, in a bin, or easy to access.
3) Place a few items that inspire inner-peace such as statues, paintings, and or plants.
4) Get incense, oils, and or candles to create an aromatic experience that's pleasant.

When I was traveling a lot in an RV, whenever we arrived to a new spot, one of the first things I'd do was go walking around to scope potential areas to practice in like covered spots or flat, grassy areas if the weather was nice. I also dedicated the only space big enough to practice in - the kitchen/"living room" as my yoga spot to practice in when it was not optimal weather to go outside. I kept my mat and props in a bag on a hook by the door so it was easy to grab. I would then rub an essential oil onto my wrists and neck and even dab some on my mat to help create the whole experience that much more relaxing and intentional.

Combining these things together will surely help you to stay persistent in your at home practice. If you'd like to learn more about how to keep your personal yoga practice steady then leave a comment or send me a DM.

The Rooted Wing is dedicated to in-home personal training as well as group acrobatic yoga sessions. If you're interested in starting your journey into yoga or other fitness lifestyles but are not sure where to start, we will work with you one-on-one to build a foundation of flexibility and strength.

My goal is to better the lives of everyone I come into contact with. I believe in building a steady progression that meets your goals and abilities. When I'm with my clients, I'm really with my friends and our training sessions are less structured than traditional personal training programs. Life moves with every breath and, with knowing that, I adapt the sessions each day to meet your needs and wants.

Feeling stale in your personal Yoga practice? - Finding inspiration is easier than you think.

With practicing Yoga almost everyday, there are many times when I encounter feeling bored and uninspired so discovering different ways to motivate myself has been crucial to keeping creative and consistent.

3 ways you can spice up your flows are:
1) Base your flow off a certain goal or pose.
2) Let the day of the week, horoscope, or a tarot reading influence your practice.
3) Find spark from a quote, poem, or story.

There are many times where I've drawn a tarot card for the day and would build a flow that embodied what the card represented.

Feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM if you'd like to how to draw inspiration and creativity into your at-home Yoga practice.

Sunlight is not only essential for your physical health but for your emotional wellbeing, as well.

When we're depressed or anxious, we tend to want to stay inside with the curtains closed but that only promotes more of those feelings. It's important to acknowledge and meet your emotions where they're at but then work to shift that energy for we cannot think of a solution to our problems while in the same headspace that created them.

So go out, get some sun, soak the rays into every pore of your being, find Inspiration, and ride the feel-good wave to make positive and lasting change in your life.

Do you run, stand, or walk a lot? If so, then it would be beneficial to strengthen and stretch your lower body for optimum performance. Follow this flow (link in bio) to get strong, mobile legs.

Most people think of yoga as a way to stretch out. But what would happen if you tried using it to build strength instead? Using yoga for leg strength will most definitely give you strong, toned, sexy legs! That goes for men too (Is it weird to say men can have sexy legs?? You just don’t hear that as often…) There are so many Yoga poses that create greater leg strength and flexibility! Practicing these poses will engage your lower body in new ways.

There is no such thing as "happy wife happy life". If one person has to sacrifice for the sake of the other then there won't be a happy anything.

In all relationships there are 3 parts: You, the other person, and the relationship itself. For a truly happy life, both people must feel seen, heard, accepted, and fulfilled. That means communicating with each other to heal and release so no there's resentments. It means always building each other up so you both shine as bright as the sun. It means always feeding and nurturing the love.

The health and happiness of both people is of the utmost importance which makes the WHOLE relationship a strong, lasting, and healthy relationship.

Create greater grip and forearm strength to hang on tighter which allows you to hang on longer with this Yoga Trapeze Warm-Up [Link in Bio].

Gripping with our fingers is an important aspect for anyone who trains with the Yoga Trapeze, other Aerial Apparatuses, climbs, or practices hand balances. This is crucial because even the strongest of shoulders won't keep us in the air if our fingers decide to give out.

Grip strength is not only important because it's needed to function in everyday life. It's also a good measure of your overall strength and happens to be one of the most overlooked aspects of training by many; perhaps the most. The problem is that we have plenty of research that illustrates it’s important for every single person. The lack of grip training most likely comes from the fact that it’s not exactly as sexy or exciting as growing some biceps or that 6-pack.

How building grip strength helps:
•Increases The Quality Of Your Aerial, Climbing, and/or Handstand/Arm Balance Performance
•Is An Indicator Of Overall Muscle Mass And Strength
•Is also an Indicator Of Your Overall Health And Risk Of Mortality

You are not just one thing. There are many levels to our "Self" that impact who we are and the decisions we make. Practing awareness of Self is what sets us apart from animals. For if you don't work on Self Awareness, you will be unknowingly at the whim of every want/need/trigger - just like animals.

Our outer most "Body Self" is the self that we portray to the world. We act a certain way so that others perceive us as such. This can be consciously and unconsciously. If we do not take control of our inner Self, this will be more unconsciously.

The "Mental and Emotional Self" is the realm of needs. What do we need from the world, from others, from ourselves? Mostly stemming from our upbringing. Again, if we are not strengthening our awareness of our Self than this will be subconscious and will be impacted depending on the environment, triggers, past, and so forth.

Our "Mystic/Symbolic Self" deals with who we are underneath all of that and why. Most of this self stems from our purpose on this plane. Following your passions will help to keep you moving forward in the right direction.

Then we come to our "Energetic Self". This is the part of us that understands we are connected to and made up of everything. It's the understanding that there is no such thing as "other". It is in this layer that we're able to truly experience peace.

It is through the practice of Yoga that were able to connect with and strengthen our awareness so that we may be able to act instead of react. This helps us to stay more stable and calm in any situation so that be best outcome can be made possible.

Find deep relief for your neck and should pain without getting off the ground in this easy guided Yoga flow [Link in Bio]

The reasons for tension and pain in neck and shoulders are manifold: Whether you’re stressed, you were too ambitions in your last workout, or you just slept funny. However, the main culprit is our modern lifestyle: We all spend far too much time sitting nowadays.

The human body wasn’t made for sitting for 8-10 hours every day. What usually happens when you spend too much time sitting is that the muscles in the front body shorten and those in the back body become weak. Yoga can help you to lengthen the front body and tone the back body so that you can find a more upright posture.

We all are made up of different personalities compiling into one being. There are many facets that go into who we are and it's important to honor and accept those parts of you.

My whole life I've dressed and listened to music that suited my mood - like jersey dress fits to punk rock. I dabble in so many different hobbies - like graphic design, painting, videography, photography, yoga, aerial yoga, and so much more.

So be you. Whoever that is whenever that is.

The science of smiling. Did you know?? The mere act of smiling reduces blood pressure, lowers stress hormones, and boosts your mood; a British study even found that one smile generates the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate.

Not only is it good for ourselves but how many times have you been having a day and smile from a loved or stranger helped to turn your day around? When we smile at someone we're saying, "I see you, I acknowledge you, and I love you".

I personally try to smile and ask how people's days are going ESPECIALLY if they appear to be in a bad mood. Returning anger/coldness with more anger/coldness only perpetuates and increases those feelings. It's important to take a step back and realize the times you were personally angry/cold was because you were probably going through something difficult in your life then extend that empathy towards others. You never know what someone is going through or who's battling depression. Just one smile can change a person's whole day and it also helps you to feel better, too! So go spread smiles and kindness ESPECIALLY to the ones who aren't. 🥰🙌💛✨

#throwbackthursday to our 6-week trip through Costa Rica in 2015. Costa Rica is by far one of the most magical countries I've ever had the privilege to visit.

The food, the nature, the people were all amazing. It's truly a #puravidalife there. We spent time all over from the mountains of Puriscal to the beaches on the peninsula. We are the freshest fruits, drank delicious old-style coffee, smoked organic ci**rs, swam in the ocean, and saw wildlife at every turn. Can't wait to go visit again or eventually buy a property there with @thetyleraugust

What's your favorite place you've ever visited?

Living room yoga for the lazy "Netflix & Chill" days video up on my YouTube (link in bio)

While there's nothing wrong with being lazy AF once in a while but doing some yoga stretches, balances, and strengthening moves while you're vegging out and watching TV will help you feel casually productive and less stiff in your body.

If you’re going to just spend the night vegging out anyway, it doesn’t hurt to relax into some poses that may help release the body and deepen your in class practice. And though it may never pass for a 'true' practice, it may be just the thing you need to settle the body in for the night while taking in your favorite show.

Follow the link in my bio for some yoga poses you can do even as you sit on your couch and watch TV.

There are consequences to everything we do but there are also consequences to everything we DON'T do.

Not having a consistent movement practice, not eating healthy, and not living your passion will lead to a life of pain, illnesses, and regrets. It may be hard to get and stay motivated but it'll be much harder to deal and pay for constant medial issues, aches in the body, and wishing you could get back the time you've lost to apathy.

It doesn't have to be huge. Just start small and slowly build on each new healthy habit as you begin to feel yourself progress. Literally NO ONE has ever said, "Gah, I wish I didn't practice yoga this morning!", "I wish I didn't get such a good night's sleep!, Or, "I wish I didn't follow my dreams!" But they do talk about all the missed opportunities and regrets when on their deathbed. Don't wait until it's too late to FULLY live your life. 🙏🙌💛✨

Fitness isn't just about losing weight. It's about being healthy. It's about being able to handle life's situations not just physically but mentally and emotionally.

When you keep fitness as a part of your life you will age more gracefully, have less health issues, be able to avoid getting sick or heal faster. You'll have less chronic aches and pains, and can even avoid succumbing to predisposed family illnesses like heart disease/diabetes.

Going to the gym and lifting weights is not the only way to stay fit. I personally rarely go to the gym or lift weights. You can try all forms of beginner exercises like different types of dance, yoga, tennis, kickboxing, etc until you find one that vibes with you and makes you feel alive.

If you've been out of the active lifestyle for a while or maybe never have been, just start slow with small goals like 20-30 mins 3 days a week and work your way up from there. You'll notice that after a while of working out that things like eating unhealthy or drinking excessively will start to sound less appealing this helping your health even more!

When back-bending in Yoga it is important to maintain spinal integrity by keeping the back of the neck long. All to often I see crunched necks with heads dropped completely back both in students and other instructors. This can cause pinched nerves which leads to pain in the shoulders, and neck, and even numbness in the hands, and arms. You also cut the energetic lines of communication when hyper extending so you may not notice the effects until even days later or cause a flare up to happen when doing a simple movement this not correlating it to your practice.

To prevent this, imagine you're legenthening the top-back part of the skull away from the tailbone and up. Send your focus to each vertebra of the neck and expand with oxygen. Always move mindfully by first taking the stretch to maybe 30% of your ability then gradually lengthening on each inhale and deepening with each exhale. Always allow your body to be the guide. You may realize you didn't have the amount of space to work with as you thought you did when just moving right to and past your max.

Move to help your body avoid aches and pains instead of sitting before sitting by following these stretches anytime you travel - Link in bio.

You can start to Cary a lightweight yoga mat like the beautiful Core mate from @sacredyogashop or even a foldable towel to stretch/play on anytime you get a break from traveling. You'll feel better and more alert mentally as well as more open and relaxed in your body.
