Just wanted to send a shout out to Dr. Elenz and PA Linda on an awesome job they did for me! Much appreciated!!!!
Ms. Jane retired today from what I was told at my appointment this afternoon.
Also, I was told that Dr. Windler’s last surgery was to day and he will be doing plasma research and other duties.
If I need surgery, does it count that I saw Dr. Windler a few weeks ago? 🤪.
Excellent job Dr. Windler and Ms. Jane! Both so caring and professional.
Total right knee replacement still looks good based on today’s examination. They are still surprised that I’m still running marathons as most, if not all people who replace a knee or two stop this high impact event. I need to refocus back to weight loss so I can continue to run lighter. I also need to join a gym so I can concentrate on building more muscle to support my knees better.
Thank you, Austin Sports Medicine! (Official sponsor of the Northwest Little League Cardinals)
Thank you so much Dr. Jimenez, MD! 9 days after my hip replacement and I just touched my toes for the first time since October 2017. I can’t thank you enough.

This is me 7 days after surgery, hanging out on a Friday night 😂
Dr. Christopher Jiminez did a great job on my knee replacement and my recovery has been fast and fabulous. I appreciate his good caring attention. Also kudos to Julie and Marcus for their great attention to my physical therapy. It did make a difference.

I recommend that anyone with hand issues, big or small, put your care into Dr. Brad Gillman's hands. He has the best credentials of any hand and extremities physician in the Austin area. He tries non-surgical ways of improving hand function and relieving pain

About 18 months ago, I developed a condition called trigger finger in which my finger locked slightly in the morning and would click back to full extension as the day went on. This is an overuse injury, probably from driving with my left hand for 40 years.

I went to Dr. Gillman at the recommendation of my primary care physician. Dr. Gillman listened carefully to me, the patient He made recommendations (no surgery, wear a brace when experiencing pain, go on with my life). After about a year, the affected finger had continued to increase in stiffness a bit, but I was not using my left hand very much.

Back to Dr. Gillman I went. He reviewed his notes from a year before, asked me more questions, listened patiently to my many questions, and asked what I thought about an injection in the site. I had heard horror stories about injections, even though I had read that in many cases, a few injections cure the problem for good. I opted for the injection, dreading it. No need to have been worried. Here is how it went, with my comments.

He talked me through the procedure: (my comments in parentheses)
1. numbing the hand thoroughly with a freeze cannister. (annoying but not painful).
2. while numb, a shot of novocaine. (could not feel it)
3. a slow injection of cortisone or whatever steroid he used. The slow was important because if the steroid goes in quickly, it meets resistance and is more painful. I think this might be because it is a thick substance. (this part felt sort of like a bee sting, not a wasp, not a scorpion)

That was yesterday, fewer than 24 hours ago. My hand has not been sore, although there is a light bluish bruise at the injection site. I have not applied ice because I am lazy. Still no soreness. Most importantly, the triggering is almost gone. I was told it might take 2 weeks for this to happen. It's taken 20 hours. I am deliberately using my left hand to get it back in the game.

I have complete confidence in this doctor. In fact, I have scheduled early next the same procedure on my wrist.

I recommend that anyone with hand issues, big or small, put your care into Dr. Brad Gillman's hands. He has the best credentials of any hand and extremities physician in the Austin area and probaby Texas and beyond. He tries non-surgical ways of improving hand function and of relieving pain before he goes to more invasive treatments.

About 18 months ago, I developed a condition called trigger finger in which my left-hand middle finger locked slightly in the morning and would click back to full extension as the day went on. This is an overuse injury, probably from driving with my left hand for 40 years.

I went to Dr. Gillman at the recommendation of my primary care physician. Dr. Gillman listened carefully to me, the patient. He made recommendations (no surgery, wear a brace when experiencing pain, go on with my life). He x-rayed my hand to be sure it was it sounded like, not a lesion or something dire.

After a bit less than a year, the affected finger had continued to increase somewhat in stiffness, but the bigger issue for me was that I was not using my left hand much.

Back to Dr. Gillman I went. (Oct. 19, 2017)

He reviewed his notes from the prior visit, asked me more questions, listened patiently to my many questions, and asked what I thought about an injection in the site.

I don't fully understand why slower is better, but I think the slowness is important because if the steroid goes in quickly, it meets resistance and is more painful. I think this might be because it is a thick substance.

I have complete confidence in this doctor. In fact, I have scheduled the same procedure on my thumb joint early next week.

Good luck with your hand issues!
I want to thank Dr Gillman for the excellent repair he performed on my left wrist. I rode my OM Flyer all day yesterday and it was fabulous.
Dr. Braezeale and Carl are awesome....Thank you for always being so attentive and providing me with excellent care, surgical needs and recovery. You guys and Austin Sports are the best. Dr. B performed my rotator cuff tear surgery a few years ago and now my knee/meniscal tear....Dr. B and Carl thanks.

07/16/2021

SHOULDER STABILITY 🏋️‍♂️🤾

Overhead sports like volleyball put a high demand on the shoulder joint. The volume and speed at which the shoulder has to work to spike and block rally after rally needs to be supplemented with stabilization work.

It’s key that the stabilization work is developed through the entirety of the range of motion used in sport to optimize performance as well as shoulder health.

We are sad to say that today was Chandi’s last day with us at Austin Sports Medicine. We have been honored and privileged to have such a consistent and bright individual on our team for the last 7 years. Despite frequent recognition for her 1st Place win in the 2016 Austin Marathon, her impact goes far beyond that in the way that she interacts with patients and staff alike! You will be missed and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

We are sad to say that today was Chandi’s last day with us at Austin Sports Medicine! It has been an honor and a pleasure to have Chandi on our team! She has made incredible impact on our patients and our staff alike! Despite continually being regarded for a 1st place medal in the 2016 Austin Marathon, her impact inside our walls far outstretches that. We wish Chandi all the best as she moves on to her next season!
