Got it on the first try!! Excited to bring to our practice a scientifically proven oxidizer (killer) of microbial pathogens, called hypochlorous acid (HOCl), in a mist form to enhance our air and surface disinfection to further safeguard our patients and our team. @ Neal R. Howdy friends, we are actively working behind the scenes to get our office ready for you! We look forward to seeing each and every one of you and catching up! More information to come in the following days.

Hello Friends,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones all safe and healthy! Our community has been through so much over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety. We have purposefully and patiently waited to send out communication until we had something worth your time to communicate.
At this time, there is not enough clear and scientific information for dental offices to safely open tomorrow (May 1st, 2020), despite what is being told to the public. We know that we are not prepared to safely treat patients for non-emergency care. We, as health care providers, have not been able to secure back-ordered protective equipment for the safety of our patients, our team, or our community. Until that happens, we remain committed to protecting our community by staying closed. It is not without great consternation that we make this difficult decision. However, we know that we are not alone in these decisions, and we can only imagine that each of you are facing your own set of challenges.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, and undoubtedly you have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency's recommendations.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients, our team, and our community, at large. For example:
-Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
-We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
-You may see that our reception area will no longer offer magazines, and refreshments for the time being since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
-Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
-We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
-We have an overwhelming demand and backlog of patients who we look forward to treating safely, so please be flexible with your time in the coming months, as we will do the same.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient safe in our practice. Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends.
To make an appointment, please call our office at 512-454-2583. If you need to reach me directly, you may text or call him at 512-423-2524, should you have an emergency arise.
And on a personal note, I can't wait to visit with each and every one of you regarding how you spent your time during these past few weeks. I sincerely hope you have found good health, humor, and in the quiet moments attention to your inner wisdom.
Yours in Health,
Neal R. Shah, DDS and Team

My New Favorite Smell is Called ‘Sweet Sigh of Relief: Back to School Edition’
How was my weekend? Thanks for asking! Well, on Saturday I schlepped over to the HEB for some zip-lock bags and other little household items. As a quick aside, zip-lock bags were the differentiator between primitive man and modern man. You ever see someone carry a sandwich in his or her bare hand? It looks pretty barbaric. I know this because I have a degree in anthropology. [ 544 more words ]
