Trigger Point Therapy

Wahoo! New work to tinker with!

GON also known as C2 neuralgia, or Arnold’s neuralgia, is a medical condition characterized by chronic pain in the upper neck, back of the head and behind the eyes.

These areas correspond to the locations of the lesser and greater occipital nerves. The greater occipital nerve also has an artery that supplies blood that is wrapped around it - the occipital artery - that can contribute to the neuralgia. GON is also sometimes characterized by diminished sensation in the affected area.

Trigger Points for GON are often found in the semispinalis capitis, upper trapezius and multifidus. Try placing a finger on the spine of C2 and another on the mastoid process and imagine a line. The best trigger points can often be found deep somewhere in the middle of this line – near obliquus capitis. Be patient, it can take some time to locate and treat these.

Holding Space: Sometimes We Go Beyond Massage

This article discusses how a massage therapist provides a safe, therapeutic space in which you can peacefully receive your massage. https://www.massagemag.com/holding-space-sometimes-we-go-beyond-massage-35037/

massagemag.com Holding space is a part of massage therapy that can be difficult to describe, and every therapist who does it has his or her own way of achieving it.

This is the muscle-y stuff I check through the abdominal work. See how crucial to your core it is?

This simple exercise will greatly improve your posture & relieve back pain.

Here's some help for you. The rest of it, however, is to straighten up your posture multiple times a day. I find checking your posture does more for it than any stretching or strengthening movement, but both together and the synergy is wonderful!

www.thelifeisamazing.com Lucky for us there are many simple ways we can begin to improve and correct our posture. One simple and effective tip is to exercise the muscles that are used when standing in a natural, beneficial position.

If a massage therapist (such as myself) asks you for some slow, deep breaths to help facilitate your massage session, this is a pretty good pace. :)

Real Bodywork - Anatomy

I have to take the consistencies of a client's fascia into account as I work, possibly even more than the state of their muscle tissue. Most 'knots' are fascial adhesions. It's 2 minutes - watch it! ;)

Here is a video about the fascia that we made. Enjoy!

This might make an accurate postural assessment a bit challenging...

Sassy anatomy is the best anatomy.

That's how I give a massage. I have dubbed it 'The Principle of Applied Laziness'. I warm up the muscle tissue to gain permission to sink further into the muscle, rather than force my way in. This way I'm helping you relax, instead of hurting.

Massage: It's real medicine - CNN.com

I have time this week. Hint, hint! ;)

cnn.com Having your honey rub your back is sweet, but it's tough to compete with the hands of a pro. A good massage therapist can make you feel like a new person. And now research suggests massage can ease insomnia, boost immunity, prevent PMS, and more. Maybe that's why hospitals are making it a standard t…
