It would be easy to describe what we do at Boomers Collaborative Foundation in one sentence: we develop affordable housing for seniors in Austin. But that undersells it.

What we're really building is a place to belong. A kitchen where neighbors become family, a studio where dreams get a second wind, a front porch view of a walkable street instead of an empty driveway, and a community that notices you, needs you, and welcomes you exactly as you are.

Housing is the foundation. But connection, purpose, and dignity are the real point.
This is what drives us every single day. And it's why we believe Austin deserves a better model for how its seniors get to live.

For many seniors, losing the ability to drive isn't just an inconvenience, it's isolating. Suddenly, a doctor's appointment becomes a logistical puzzle, getting groceries requires help, and a trip to see a friend feels like an overwhelming project.

In a city built largely around car ownership, older adults who can no longer drive often find themselves cut off from the community resources, social connections, and everyday life. That's why the Boomers Collaborative Foundation is intentional about location.

Our cooperative housing model has walkable, transit-accessible urban neighborhoods as its foundation, so that getting around Austin doesn't depend on having keys in your pocket.

Transportation independence translates to dignity, autonomy, and staying connected to the life you've built.

We believe that getting older doesn't mean slowing down — it means having the wisdom, the experience, and frankly the nerve to demand better.

From better housing to better communities and better access to services and amenities, the Boomers Collaborative Foundation exists because too many Austin seniors are being left out of the city they helped build: priced out of neighborhoods, isolated from resources, and pushed toward housing models that don't fit who they are.

We're changing that. Our mission: to create affordable, community-centered housing for adults over 55 that lets them stay in Austin, stay connected, and keep thriving.

Can you afford to retire in Austin? For many seniors in our city, the honest answer is: it's getting harder.

Austin's cost of living has risen sharply over the past decade, and seniors on fixed incomes are feeling it most. Rents that were manageable a few years ago have become out of reach. Homeowners are being taxed out of neighborhoods they've lived in for decades. And the senior housing options that are affordable often mean trading the urban life you love for an isolated facility far from everything familiar.
