YATAAHEY (Good Day),

May 26, 2021 is the day of a powerful transition, the powerful Super Flower Blood Moon Eclipse. This eclipse will be the start of 4 more big lunar eclipses over the next two years. The next one will be November 18/19 of this year.

Many tribes call this moon the Flower moon because it’s the first full moon in the month of May when most flowers are blooming. It is also called Blood moon because when the earth is directly between the sun and the moon, the moon with have a red glow.

In the Toltec teachings, in this time frame, Humanity has been going through the Underworld (periods of darkness). The obstacles of our times can be seen in weather changes, the rise of poverty, and a pandemic. But a shift is starting with May 26th, and the next one will be in November 2026. This current shift is about our personal growth. We were forced to be separated from everyone so we would go inside of ourselves for spiritual growth.

A man name Magana said “Some people refuse to change." These are people who can’t overcome their fears and would rather cling to an unworkable system or sit in front of their TV set until things are back to the way they were before. But everything has changed, our eyes are open and we are not afraid to speak. We have had the time during this lockdown to see what it is we really want in life, and the beauty of life, and to see how important it is to care for ourselves. Enjoy the simple things, the sound of rain, meditation, prayer, family and friends.

For my students, remember if wanting protection during this time, wear your obsidian!

YATAAHEY (Good Day),

Coatlicue, the Aztec earth mother, was sweeping the temple floor and found a blue feather. She put this feather near her breast in prayer and this is how she became pregnant with the Boy Sun, Huitzilin, also the Nahual name of hummingbird. Huitzilin will be reborn on Dec 21st, the winter solstice. This is the longest evening because there is no sun, not until the 21st when Coatlicue gives birth.

In traditional ways, we are in darkness in the winter as the sun is dying, moving into the death realm. To prepare for the sun to be born on December 21st, we can take a traditional bath with ashes added to the water to remove everything, shed everything, you no longer need. What do you need to let go of before the sun is reborn? Wash it down with the ashes.

In my Apache teachings, this is a significant year for us as this is not your typical winter solstice. Two stars are coming together, Saturn and Jupiter, and they are in competition with the moon. They are telling us that we are now shifting into the power of the people, particularly our women. We've already started to see this influence. We saw it in our elections, the people spoke out, “we need change”. We are moving into the new beginnings of women’s voices and indigenous people’s voices. Be prepared for these changes and the work coming up in 2021.

Aho,
Marika

Hello Everyone,

It was a hot summer but now the weather is changing and this is the time to go and harvest the Prickly Pear (Tunas). You can also find them in some grocery stores or at farmer’s markets.

They are so good for you and as a child I remember all the wonderful foods my mother would make with them. And with our dinner, we would have Agua de Tuna (recipe below).

Tunas are so good for you because they are antioxidant and they can help lower your LDL cholesterol. Indigenous people have been using them for centuries for diabetes and for enlarged prostate because prickly pear is a diuretic and lowers inflammation in the body.

This is not like the Cactus Pad, which has different medicine.

I have lots of recipes and we will make lots of wonderful medicines in School this coming year.

Here’s one simple recipe to enjoy *

Agua de Tuna
3 prickly pears
1 cup of water
½ cup of Orange juice, freshly squeezed! (Oranges will be in season, too)
Stevia or Agave to taste

Cut both ends off the tuna and then cut them in half. With a spoon, scoop out the flesh and place it in a blender with the water. Blend at the lowest speed for 2 minutes. Strain out the seeds and add the juice back to the blender with the orange juice and stevia. Blend until smooth and pour over some ice.

Oh my goodness, let the healing begin!!

Don’t forget school starts March 6, 2021. Hope to see you there!

Welcome | oftheearthhealing

Hello friends,

We write to you today to ask for your assistance in supporting stricken communities of the Jicarilla Apache Nation. This nation is located in the mountains and mesas of north-central New Mexico, and like many Native communities, has been hard hit with the effects of COVID-19.

According to Indian Health Services, there are more than 3,607 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus among Native American tribes. Native peoples in New Mexico account for 50% of the state's COVID-19 deaths, even though they make up only 11% of the population. In addition, Native American nations have increasingly taken on greater responsibility for providing a wide range of health services on their lands, but unlike state and local governments, the tribes cannot collect adequate taxes to pay for these operations during social distancing. Native American tribes’ tax base have been cut literally to zero, and tribal governments do not have money to run the health clinic or other services.

Of The Earth Institute Of Indigenous Cultures and Teachings, created by Marika Alvarado, of the Lipan Mescalero Apache, is seeking donations so that traditional plant medicines can be sent to this community desperately in need. Of the Earth Institute will provide the medicine but needs assistance with postage to get plant medicines to these communities. Please click below to donate. Your donation is tax deductible and any amount will help.

When donating, please leave description to “services” and write in the amount you wish to give.

Greetings

Please join me April 17th and 18th at UT Austin Campus,

01/18/2020

Greetings To All My Relations

Let’s talk more about this year. 2020=4
This symbolizes the beginning, the four directions, the Truth!
The veil is lifted.

We are also influenced by the number 2 in 2020. It’s about listening more to our Inner Voice.
Remember when we entered 2000 we shifted to the woman and her power and voice, the beginning of the “Me Too” movement. This is wonderful time to decide: Where are you going? What are you focusing on? Do you want to start a business? Clean your home, your physical, your spiritual, and your emotional. This is a powerful year.

Toltec:
This is the year of 8 Tecpatl, the knife of Justice.
The year of the obsidian black knife and number 8 is about working with your unconscious.
So, this is about working with the number 8 and the knife to cut away our limiting believes or stories we tell ourselves. What is our inner truth? But be careful, this is the obsidian knife and it is sharp so seek to find where you set your intentions to make sure you control the knife and it doesn’t work against you.

Aho/Ometeotl

12/30/2019

Greetings To All My Relations
We are entering a powerful Year! 2020=4
The number 4 symbolizes Creation
This is also the year of the SUN!

In Apache ways we believe Johonaa (Sun) He is the most powerful deity of all Creation, nothing can live or function without the Sun.
The Cottonwood trees were always used as a symbol of the Sun, because of their strength and their leaves glitter and capture the sunlight.
We know the Sun as The Singing Sun, because when you stand out in the middle of the heat in summer you will hear faint voices of the ancestor’s songs.

The Mayan’s were mathematicians but the Toltecs were numerologist, they speak of the number 4 and how it symbolizes Creation, the Four Directions.
So, 2020 equals 4 and they too say this is the year of the Sun. He is known as
Tonatiuh , in Nahuatl the name translate “He who makes the day” He is the ruler of the East.

He is Also known as ‘The Fifth Sun” Naui Olin, which means “4 Movement”.

The Sun is the symbol of death and the stars are the warriors of the past.
When the Sun goes down it is the door to Transformation, so the belief is When Things become known in your Eyes, then let it go! Otherwise you wearing old skin.

So, this is a year to open your eyes and make the changes and let the Sun take them with him when he heads West.
Listen to the Ancestor’s Songs

This is good time to open all your windows and cleanse your home and remember to start with the front door and everything out the back door, and scrub your front porch too.

Aho / Ometeotl
