Circus Chickendog returns to The VORTEX with The Mutt-Cracker (SWEET!). For the 10th year, our favorite canines and performers transform The VORTEX for the holidays with a fabulously fun show for All Ages. This year’s production once again stars brilliant and talented rescue dogs and a talking scarlet macaw (Lauren MaCaw). Darren Peterson brings his masterful juggling and unicycling, as well his gifted dog training. Introducing Circus Chickendog’s newest star, Dragonfly, a 16-week old puppy!

Circus Chickendog is an Austin-based troupe that has been entertaining audiences for decades. Previously featured nationally on David Letterman, Pet Star, and Donny and Marie, Circus Chickendog performs regularly in Austin at The Institution Theater.

AJ Reyes is an actor, singer, voice artist, and filmmaker based in Austin, Texas. He has studied at The Actor’s School and The Institution Theater. Recent stage credits include: Herman, Sweet Charity (The Georgetown Palace Theatre); Geyser, Mad Libs Live! (The Georgetown Palace Theatre); and Roy, The Realness (New Manifest Theatre). His pastimes include running late and eating chocolate chip cookies. AJ is a 2012 Lambda Literary Fellow and has also been recognized as the apple of his mother’s eye.
AJ plays Dee Dee in Rap Unzel. Come see him at 1pm or 3pm this weekend at The VORTEX!

Our amazing teachers make up some of the most experienced improv teaching staff in Texas. When our 65-person theater is full, we’re not performers and observers, we’re a community, and we’re all a part of the action. Anyone is welcome, and everyone has a great time at The Institution Theater!

Conducting Chaos: Teaching Improv to Kids and Teens
Hey, Y'all! Jessica Arjet, one of the members of our Austin Improv Family, has written a book about teaching improv to children called "Conduction Chaos: Teaching Improv To Kids And Teens." And she's asking for some help to get this book out into the world! Let's help her out!
