A nourishing summer is the foundation for a great school year. Our Summer Meals Program is crucial in ensuring kids have reliable access to nutritious food during the summer months. With nourished bodies and smiles, these young ones are ready to take on new challenges when school starts.
Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap study offers a crucial national perspective on food insecurity. Building on that data, we're leveraging our innovative FACT to develop even deeper insights into hunger right here in Central Texas.
The results are staggering: Texas ranks 2nd in the nation for food insecurity, and it's having a profound impact on the 21 counties we serve. High housing costs, limited transportation access and food deserts create significant challenges for our neighbors.

Nourishing our community means working together to create lasting change. We were honored to host Day 1 of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Southwest Regional TEFPA/CSFP Best Practices Conference, bringing together food banks to discuss innovative solutions, particularly for rural communities. Day 2 opened with our CEO, Sari Vatske, sharing our vision for FRESH future and introducing Bill Ludwig, the SWRO Administrator for USDA and advocate for food security in high-need areas.

This Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice for all.
We recognize the historic significance of this day, but also acknowledge that the fight for equity continues. Food insecurity disproportionately impacts communities of color, and we at the Central Texas Food Bank are committed to dismantling those barriers.
Through strategic partnerships, community outreach, and a shared vision of justice, we're building a more just food system. We strive to provide equitable access to nutritious meals because everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Together, we can create a future where Juneteenth isn't just a celebration of the past, but a steppingstone to a brighter, more equitable tomorrow!
