The Austin Senators became Austin's first minor league baseball team back in 1887 when they became a charter member of the Texas League. The played in other leagues throughout the years, and even served as the Milwaukee Braves' AA farm club from 1956 to 1964. The team left in 1967, depriving Austin of professional baseball until the @rrexpress was established in 2000. ⁠
@austinsenatorsbaseball still carry on the legacy today.

In 1906, an immigrant watchmaker named Sam Kruger, pictured here with son Aaron Kruger opened a small Texas jewelry store.

Over one hundred years later, his legacy of big-hearted, down-to-earth service continues, passed down through four generations, and alive and well on the corner Congress and 8th.

"When it came time to purchase an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I couldn't stand the thought of going to a ring store and picking a ring from a case and having my soulmate wearing a generic ring that looks just like any other ring on every other girl's hand. I wanted it to be special and original and also exactly what she wanted. She sent me a picture of a vintage 1920 Tiffany ring (that cost more than my car) that she liked. She also wanted to use her great-grandmother's diamond as the center stone. I sent the pictures of the example ring to Michelle at Kruger's and asked if I could get a ring like this using the grandmother's diamond. Michelle suggested their custom jeweler could design a ring for me from scratch. She said it would take 2-3 weeks, it was ready in 8 days! And absolutely beautiful, unique, and exactly what my fiance wanted. Thank you, Michelle and Kruger's for taking our idea and crafting it perfectly. The experience was quick and painless and perfect!"
