Some essential oils have "warming" like properties, and can be helpful with soothing sore muscles and with muscle recovery. Some of the oils that would fall into this category would be Sweet Marjoram and Tamala.

Do you have essential oils you like to use for sore muscles?

I love the woods.

And so Cedarwood is up there as one of my favorite oils. A client once told me that Cedarwood essential oil reminded her of being in a horse barn. That is also a wonderful smell to me. It brings back childhood memories of riding horses and the cedarwood shavings they would use in the stalls and in the arena.

Have you ever experienced Cedarwood essential oil?

We are now in the Celtic Tree Month of Hawthorn.

Hawthorn is regarded as a faerie tree in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Hawthorns can often be found standing sentry at springs and wells and sometimes they are covered in cloughties, or prayer offerings, that people have left for the faeries.

Hawthorns can be symbols of protection and love. While it was considered bad luck to cut down a hawthorn tree, (and royally p**s off the fae who lived in it), respectfully collecting flowers and sprigs was allowed. This was usually done by springtime brides who would wear the blossoms in their hair or put them in their bouquets as a symbol of their union of love.

The Hawthorn Full Moon, or "Flower Moon" this month is May 26. You can celebrate by leaving out biodegradable offerings like chocolate for the faerie folk.

Jennifer Carr Wellness - Amazing Aromatherapy

New blog post all about Eucalyptus is up now.

https://jennifercarrwellness.blogspot.com/

Jennifer Carr Wellness - Amazing Aromatherapy It probably comes as no surprise that Eucalyptus would be the oil of Wellness, as it's a common go-to oil for aromatherapists when dealing with illness. Especially illnesses such as colds, congestion, and allergies. Eucalyptus has a strong influence on the throat, both physically and emotionally and...

Eucalyptus is a Throat Chakra oil.

On a physical level eucalyptus essential oil has properties that may help with ailments of the throat and upper respiratory system.

On an energetic level, the Throat Chakra is about Truth, and speaking our truth. Eucalyptus helps to keep the throat healthy so that we can better declare our truths and more effectively ask for truth.

One of my favorite ways to use eucalyptus is with a steam. This can be super helpful if you're feeling congested.

Put one drop of therapeutic grade eucalyptus essential oil in a steaming bowl of hot water. Place the bowl on a table and sit in front of it, leaning over the bowl. Drape a towel or blanket over your head, also enclosing the bowl, so that you're trapping the steam inside your towel "tent". Relax and breathe deeply!

Make sure to be careful with the hot water, and don't use more than one drop of the oil.

Lavender is a common scent used in perfume making. It is a Middle Note, part of the body of a perfume and is considered an enhancer, modifier, and equalizer. It has an intensity of 2.

Lavender blends well with a lot of oils. Almost all citrus oils go well with Lavender as well as floral scents like geranium. I also like lavender with woodsy notes and earthy scents.

New blog is up, all about Lavender.

Jennifer Carr Wellness - Amazing Aromatherapy In Medieval times, there was some debate on how Lavender influenced love. Some people claimed that wearing it would help keep the wearer chaste, while other people thought it had aphrodisiac qualities that would create the opposite effect!

Lavender is one of my go-to oils for helping with better sleep. Spray a couple spritzes of this on your pillow before bed and drift away.

Cozy Night Linen Spray
(Combine all ingredients in a 2 oz. spray bottle*)
14 drops Wild Orange or Bergamot
10 drops Cedarwood
20 drops Lavender
Fill the rest of the bottle with spring water
Shake before each use

*Make sure you use either a glass bottle or a plastic bottle that is essential oil safe. Some EO's can actually eat through plastic and make a big mess.

Have you ever had food with Lavender in it?

I've had lavender and honey ice cream, and it was divine. Today I made these Lavender, Blueberry, and Walnut scones and they turned out great! Plus they're vegan and have a really small amount of sugar, so they're a much healthier version of scones. The recipe is from the Thug Kitchen Cookbook, (now called Bad Manners Food).
@badmannersfood

Ingredients:

2 3/4 cups whole wheat or all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
3 tablespoons white sugar, plus more for sprinkling
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup refined coconut oil
2 teaspoons dried lavender *
1 1/4 cup plain almond milk, plus more for brushing
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1. Preheat the oven to 425. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugars, and salt.
3. Cut the oil into the flour using your hands until it all looks kind of grainy and there are no large chunks left in it.
4. Stir in the lavender.
5. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the almond milk and vanilla. Mix it together until it is almost all combined, but not totally. Add in the blueberries and walnuts but be careful not to overmix.
6. Scoop out the dough in 1/2 cup measurements and plop onto the baking sheet. Brush with a little almond milk and sprinkle with white sugar.
7. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until they look a little golden brown around the bottom.

*I found dried lavender in the spice section at my grocery store, but don't sweat it if you can't find any. You can use 1 or 2 drops of Lavender essential oil. Make sure it's an oil you can digest! Not all essential oils are created equal. Don't be eating that stuff you got at Walmart or bought on Amazon. The only brand I'll ingest is doTerra. You can also order dried lavender from online retailers. A good one I like is Mountain Rose Herbs.
