Stonewall Heart 2019 New Works Play Festival

Stonewall Heart
Written by Lilli Hime Directed by Rafael Murtinho

Performed by Abby Cortinas, Thomas Quintanilla, and Lucia McMahon

Lilli is a senior English Writing and Rhetoric major who hopes to uplift LGBTQ stories through her storytelling. Rafael is a Senior General Theatre Major and Musical Theatre Minor. He directed Andre’s Mother by Terrance McNally for the 14th Annual 10 Minute Play Festival at the MMNT. This piece follows the 10 minutes before their Uber arrives, 24 hours until Dani’s essay is due, and 2 1⁄2 hours until the
deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. yet. The three best friends are arguing how to spend the night - to go party at their favorite club’s Latin night or stay in to help Dani with her big essay.

Thank you to Lilli Hime and Rafael Murtinho for bringing this important story to the stage. Special thank you to Lisa Kirkpatrick who came out to support this dynamic duo and stayed for the rest of the Play Festival, as well as donated a generous amount to Transit Theatre Troupe.

It is because of people like you, that live, student, theatre can continue to happen. We thank you for your contributions and your support.

General information

Transit Theatre Troupe works to allow the students of St. Edward's University an opportunity to create theatre on their own terms to enrich the artistic community of St. Edward's University. Transit was founded on the principles of innovation of theatrical convention, inclusion of the willing, and the introduction of untried or rarely produced theatre to the St. Edward's community. Transit also works to pay special attention to revitalizing the theatre of prior theatrical eras, as well as recognizing every individual's responsibility to strive for a more just world through work in the arts.
