As we look to the future we need our tech leaders to convene more often and openly share their visions for the next decade and beyond.
This Wednesday, April 24th, is the ATC April Roundtable Breakfast. Every month we bring great networking, education, and inspiration to kick off your day. This event is co-hosted with the Austin Venture Association (ATC tries to partner with other local business / tech non-profits - as collaboration means the whole community wins). This week, the Austin Technology Council hosted our annual “Gateway Happy Hour” that celebrates everything in Austin Tech, and is the local kick-off to SXSW. Over 300 people showed up to network and share the needed feeling of “community” in our tech ecosystem. ATC looks to “Celebrate the past… Be present in the now… And plan for the future”. In order to do this, we need to work together with all of the other organizations that support our Tech ecosystem and encourage the community to convene. We must identify the civic-minded leaders who will shape our future and set differences aside to real lead our city. We have a big announcement coming in a few days about “the Austin Tech Hall of Fame”. This is a multi-year project… As one cannot start a Hall of Fame with one person… Nor can you add 50 people to the Hall of Fame in your first year. The reason it will be a long-term and multi-year project is that you cannot start a first time event by trying to host a giant gala. You need to grow organicly. This is gonna be fun… Cool… And it’s going to honor the amazing people who helped us grow this city into what it is today, while at the same time, putting a spotlight on our local entrepreneurs who are currently shaping the future. There are amazing things starting to happen at the Austin Technology Council… But we cannot do it alone… We need YOU. Our community is not just about a few people… It is about everyone. Silos and divisions are not what Austin is about. Help us pull people together. .
