Texas Capitol Gift Shop

I am looking for some of the older ornaments, if someone knows where I could get those.

This is my story...

My Great Aunt Jo started collecting in 1996 and bought for my mom as well every year until she passed away in 2007. Mom did not purchase after that, as it was something she had shared with a beloved aunt. She loved and cherished the ornaments and put them on her tree every year in celebration of Aunt Jo. I always loved the ornaments and wanted to start my own collection, but never got around to it.
Then mom passed away in 2017, followed by dad a year and a half later. My sister and I just could not bring ourselves to go through their things until last year. Anyway, I inherited her collection and want to complete it. I have bought 2011-2021 rom the gift shop, but need to find the ones missing.

Does anyone know where I can buy those?

For this week's #CapInteriorTuesday we're sharing a special item from the Capitol's collection of furniture. This bench located in the Capitol Extension was made of wood preserved from a pecan tree planted on the Capitol grounds in 1945 in memory of Texans who fought in WWII. After the tree was removed, the wood was salvaged so that the historic tree could continue to honor Texas veterans from WWII. Whenever a tree is removed from the Capitol grounds, the wood is often salvaged and reused in items that are sold in the Texas Capitol Gift Shop!
Love their ornaments and gifts, but the shipping is very expensive. 😕
The 2019 Texas Capitol Ornament is here!

Inspired by the famed Lone Star locomotive that brought the granite used for the Texas State Capitol from Burnett to Austin, this three-dimensional ornament highlights historic details that include a tall smokestack, steam whistle, bell, boilers, and cattle guard typical of steam trains of the late nineteenth century. The locomotive is festively decorated with Texas Lone Stars, Texas Flags, and a holiday wreath prominently featuring the Capitol Dome and is finished in 24K gold!

Sales from this exclusive ornament, the 24th in the series, support the ongoing preservation and interpretation of the Texas Capitol for over one million visitors annually. Collect this commemorative piece of Texas history and help the statehouse maintain its beauty for generations to come. Pick up yours in one of the Texas Capitol Gift Shops found in the Visitors center or Capitol Extension or the Bullock Texas State History Museum store.
