One of the things that you want to consider when you’re trying to rid your body of toxins are that there are two phases of liver detoxification, and both are highly dependent on each other to successfully rid the body of toxins and get you feeling back to normal !

What are some signs of sluggish liver?
bloating

digestion problems

excess weight, especially in the midsection

fatigue

What are some of the best ways to support the liver? I want to stress that it’s pretty important to ensure both pathways are functioning optimally! When phase 1 sends the toxins to phase 2 it needs to be functioning optimally or else the toxins aren’t properly eliminated!

My meal checklist that promotes healthy digestion and prevents cognitive decline:

-Rainbow veggies ( exciting and diverse colors, textures, and flavor profiles)
-Protein (can sub for tempeh or lentils)
-Fat ( I chose my cooked veggie dressing)
-Dark leafy greens ( I like to add cilantro to my salad for its powerful ability to aid in detoxification (will go into extensive detail in the next post !)

Depending on your health goal, you can add either more fats/protein (keto) i.e., more meats, avocado, seeds, or nuts, OR a healthy complex carb such as farro, quinoa, brown rice, or sweet potato.

Trying not to be hard on myself for not maintaining my pre covid weight, as I realize and am reminded by some of the beautiful people in our world - our bodies brought us and are bringing us through a new era of stress, tragedy and uncertainty.

No, I don’t look the same as I did before covid but I’m sure as hell gonna celebrate the fact that not only did my body bring me safely through the pandemic, I also haven’t been sick in over 400 days! That’s longest I can even remember. The cause could be either less contact with sick people in general or the fact that I was on top of my zinc and selenium intake or both !
.
No alcohol and not missing sleep always helps too.
.
But let’s celebrate our health, intellect and loving friends and family this year instead of worshipping trivial numbers on a scale.
.
Cheers to more green smoothies, twerking and hugs this year 🍑💗

Hey y’all! The salad that I made last night. I was really craving some raw, fresh boiz so I decided to listen to my body.🥰

Its SO good -I made it for lunch again today!
.
One thing that I wanted to talk to y’all about is enzymes. Enzymes are hugely important for creating energy. They do this by catalyzing energy reactions that allow for the break down of protein of carbs and fats to be used for energy, energy storage, immunity and tissue repair. Basically they are the foundation for our bodies to function properly.
.
Enzymes come from raw fruits and vegetables. A lot of enzymes cannot function properly without the help of a complex different kinds of vitamins or metallic ions like zinc or magnesium, so we must consume these as well to assist in the functioning of things like making new DNA, fighting viruses, making new blood cells, and facilitating the liver and kidneys in detoxing.
.
One thing that makes it very difficult for enzymes to function is alcohol. It has been shown ethanol(alcohol) competes with many vitamins, such as thiamine and vitamin A (energy producers and potent antioxidants)-but also uses enzymes that normally would be used for vitamin metabolism to safely metabolize alcohol.
.
Feeling better starts with putting down the drink! If you feel like you enjoy drinking too much, supplement and get raw food in daily.
