Handful of dates
1 avocado
1/2 cup milk of choice
1-2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 scoop Paleo pro Ancient cacao protein powder or protein powder of choice !
Blend well

Topped with:

Chia seeds
Blueberries
Muesli
Hazelnuts

Protein : 38 g

My meal checklist that promotes healthy digestion and prevents cognitive decline:

-Rainbow veggies ( exciting and diverse colors, textures, and flavor profiles)
-Protein (can sub for tempeh or lentils)
-Fat ( I chose my cooked veggie dressing)
-Dark leafy greens ( I like to add cilantro to my salad for its powerful ability to aid in detoxification (will go into extensive detail in the next post !)

Depending on your health goal, you can add either more fats/protein (keto) i.e., more meats, avocado, seeds, or nuts, OR a healthy complex carb such as farro, quinoa, brown rice, or sweet potato.

Trying not to be hard on myself for not maintaining my pre covid weight, as I realize and am reminded by some of the beautiful people in our world - our bodies brought us and are bringing us through a new era of stress, tragedy and uncertainty.
.
No, I don’t look the same as I did before covid but I’m sure as hell gonna celebrate the fact that not only did my body bring me safely through the pandemic, I also haven’t been sick in over 400 days! That’s longest I can even remember. The cause could be either less contact with sick people in general or the fact that I was on top of my zinc and selenium intake or both !
.
No alcohol and not missing sleep always helps too.
.
But let’s celebrate our health, intellect and loving friends and family this year instead of worshipping trivial numbers on a scale.
.
Cheers to more green smoothies, twerking and hugs this year 🍑💗

Hey y’all! The salad that I made last night. I was really craving some raw, fresh boiz so I decided to listen to my body.🥰

Its SO good -I made it for lunch again today!
.
One thing that I wanted to talk to y’all about is enzymes. Enzymes are hugely important for creating energy. They do this by catalyzing energy reactions that allow for the break down of protein of carbs and fats to be used for energy, energy storage, immunity and tissue repair. Basically they are the foundation for our bodies to function properly.
.
Enzymes come from raw fruits and vegetables. A lot of enzymes cannot function properly without the help of a complex different kinds of vitamins or metallic ions like zinc or magnesium, so we must consume these as well to assist in the functioning of things like making new DNA, fighting viruses, making new blood cells, and facilitating the liver and kidneys in detoxing.
.
One thing that makes it very difficult for enzymes to function is alcohol. It has been shown ethanol(alcohol) competes with many vitamins, such as thiamine and vitamin A (energy producers and potent antioxidants)-but also uses enzymes that normally would be used for vitamin metabolism to safely metabolize alcohol.
.
Feeling better starts with putting down the drink! If you feel like you enjoy drinking too much, supplement and get raw food in daily.

Thinking about my 30 day challenge, I’m really leaning toward a run everyday. As much as I hate to admit, I really do want to get to my pre covid weight is that’s when I feel my best !

Considering becoming a yoga nidra practitioner after experiencing profound healing yesterday in class.

I feel lighter, no coffee cravings, boundless energy, needed less sleep, I feel extremely happy and positive, not to mention much more productive !!

Yoga Nidra facilitates going into a deeper, more relaxed brain wave state called theta wave. Theta wave takes you out of fight or flight into rest and reset. This allows you to tune into your subconscious, innate ability to solve complex problems and create solutions to a better life, to a project or just create in general.

Also when I take whatever day I want/need to do the activities that make me happy but aren’t super strict hardcore exercise, such as dancing, hiking, biking and walking, plus maybe even a bit of pole !

Simple, Delicious ye’abesha gomen, sweet potatoe and chicken thigh 💕
.
One of my favorite ways to make collard greens are ye’abesha gomen, Ethiopian collard greens!
.
Typically, I use my own spice mix I made, but this time I decided to try a mix I got from my favorite Ethiopian spot in Austin : Asher’s ! It has spices in there I’ve never heard of, and using that with my roasted cumin seeds, roasted garlic oil and chicken drippings, this literally makes the best Ethiopian greens !
.
1 large bunch collard greens
2 tbsp butter
1-2 tbsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp garlic oil with 2-3 cloves
Chicken drippings
3 tbsp berbere (spice mix)
1/2 cup water
.
Place butter in the skillet. Put in medium heat. Place cumin seeds in oil, cook until just fragrant. Add chopped collard greens, oil, garlic and berbere. Cook down until stems are soft. Add 1/2 cup water as needed. After chicken is cooked, place collards in drippings and stir. There you have it !! Makes about 2 cups of Cooked collard greens.
