HI. RE CTFB NEEDS TO ALLOW WALK-UPS, THE MOST NEEDY & HOMELESS, TO GET THEIR FOOD BOXES. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU FOR READING BELOW.
We need help so that people can walk up to get food boxes from CTFB who refuses to do this, & thus fails the most Needy & Homeless, those without cars. Below is my email to the whole City Council today. I hope you can help. TY. Ruth Fischer, Sacred Heart Parishioner. XX. God Bless.
"Here is your message:

Your Name: RUTH FISCHER
Your e-mail address: [email protected]
Subject: CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK NEEDS INCENTIVE TO SERVE WALK-UPS AT DISTRIBUTION SITES. THE MOST NEEDY.
Message: Hi. Thank you for reading this & please consider investigating why CTFB cannot find a way to serve those on foot rather than those driving through for the food boxes each week. Hope Lutheran Church is able to do a curbside, so CTFB should be able to figure a way for all to be safe. Just put out boxes & have traffic control for distancing. Use tape on ground for spacing. Here is my last correspondence with them. At least they need to let it be known on all info re the proxy system that requires a call in, which is really a barrier to the most needy & Homeless. Please someone take this on. Thank you. Ruth Fischer, District 1 & close to 4. " Central Texas Food Bank

Central Texas Food Bank For the safety of everyone, we are not accepting walk-ups. Families can sign up for our proxy program to send someone else on their behalf to pick up food for them. If you would like to learn more about this program and the logistics of our distributions, feel free to contact our distribution programs manager at 512-684-2540.

Ruth Fischer Central Texas Food Bank why a proxy even needed, as anyone can drive through, though if they want 2 servings then yes a proxy. Please put that on your flyers & posts with phone # as many do not have computers. It would be easier for folks to walk near the cars & ask someone to pick up a box for them too. When the car gets to the serving pint, they could point to the person standing way back. My phone is lost. Please forward to your distribution manager & PR who handles the flyers. You cannot ignore the most needy. Plus language is a problem, a barrier. Illiteracy is a barrier. ty. they can reply by Email to [email protected]. TY. if your Tumeric is from Bangladesh, could have lead for color.
Hey there! Any idea when fresh tacos will be back? Food allergies are real during breakfast too. 🙃
heya Wheatsville -- can you bring back the weekly menu? It really helps to be able to know in advance what days I need to come to the deli ...
I just wanted to send a note of thanks. There was a man in the store refusing to wear a mask, and I so appreciate your insistence on them. He was arguing the whole time I was there shopping, stood at one of the cashier stands until I guess he gave up, and was standing in the exit still arguing when I left. I had to exit through the entrance to stay away from him. Thank you. Thank you to the employee who had to deal with him, and to Wheatsville for insisting on masks. Also, maybe give that employee a bonus, or gift basket or something. Send him a socially-distant hug from me.
Hey can you check and respond to the message I wrote you in Messages? Thanks.

This holiday season, we are accepting donations to Socks for the Sole, a UT student-run nonprofit organization that serves the Austin community, one sock at a time.
🧦🧦🧦
Socks, underwear, and feminine hygiene products are some of the least common items that people donate to shelters and other non-profit organizations because they have to be donated new. However, these items are essential to the health and wellness of both individuals experiencing homelessness and our community at large. During the winter, socks help protect against the cold and various diseases like the common cold.
🧦🧦🧦
Please consider contributing to this cause by donating NEW socks, underwear, feminine hygiene products, hats, gloves, nail clippers, reusable shopping bags, and rain gear. Donations will be accepted at both Wheatsville locations. Just ask the hospitality desk where to drop them :)

Thank you for helping to make sure our community has happy feet!

NEW WINE SPOTLIGHT:

Swick Wines, BBQ Wine / $22.99 / Vegan Friendly
100% Pinot Noir from Columbia Gorge in Oregon, this wine is unique because the grapes were in the path of last year’s wildfires in the Pacific Northwest. The result is a pinot noir with a touch of savory smoke.

Smoke tainted wines have historically been thrown out, however, this wine is ABSOLUTELY worth saving. This bottle, paired perfectly with rich meaty dishes, has not only a unique taste but also stands as an example for how the wine industry must sustainably move forward and adapt to the reality of climate change.

Wheatsville is proud to support Black Mamas ATX.

The Black Mamas Community Collective’s goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the alarming maternal mortality and morbidity rates among Black women. Through programs, increased awareness, training, outreach and research, the Black Mamas Community Collective is leading the charge in Travis County to help Black mothers get the education and access to resources needed to have healthy pregnancies and birthing experiences.

The Collective is made up of researchers, social workers, policy makers, public health professionals and community activists and consists primarily of Black women that have survived their own pregnancy and child birthing traumas. The collaborative team is taking a holistic approach to improving access and outcomes, from unpacking the systemic sources of racism in our healthcare systems to delivery home visits for Black mothers located in Central Texas.

In 2018, BMCC/BMATX put out a cry, that it's "Time to Show Up for Black Mothers." Now in 2021, that cry is even louder. Join Black Mamas ATX on December 4, 2021 from 9-5, for their second Patient Advocacy Summit, #HolisticallyHealingBlackMaternalHealth!

This full-day event will bring people together to: increase the sense of urgency around the Black Maternal Health Crisis, re-envision a HOLISTIC maternal healthcare system, and improve connectivity within the maternal healthcare sphere.

We are so excited about featuring Native American Natural Foods as our Vendor of the Month this November! Tanka Bar

Karlene Hunter, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and her long-time business partner Mark A. Tilsen, founded their business in 2006 on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The pair imagine a world filled with healthy foods that add to the restoration and preservation of our lands and ecosystem. To this day, the creation of their delicious, natural, and healthy Tanka buffalo-based food products is based on Native grounds. They offer Tanka Bars, Tanka Bites, Tanka Sticks and Tanka Warrior Bars all in a variety of flavors. Their Tanka product line and fund are focused on one of their key business values: Heart, Mind, Body, and Spirit, described below:

“Buffalo "Tanka" is used in reference to delivering your best with all your heart, mind, body and spirit. It is the choices that you make and the actions that you take to be who you are. Whether you're Native, white, black, yellow or brown, it is your ability to overcome, to extend a helping hand for those in need, to defeat racism, to protect our Mother Earth, and to love all others on our planet.”
