The shoulder is a complex joint and our daily activities have a tendency to put us at high risk for injuries from repetitive use and pain resulting from poor posture. Shoulder pain can be especially difficult to deal with as it can severely limit our ability to work, especially for those who perform physical tasks with their arms and hands. About 20% of the population struggles with shoulder pain at least once, however only about 50% of those cases resolve within six months.

Massage therapy can very often be beneficial for shoulder pain, if not directly, then by releasing muscle restrictions in the surrounding tissue which allows for free range of motion in the joint.
Due to an influx of new clients in 2021, RMA is currently not accepting anymore new clients at this time. Only current clientele may book. Please check back for future updates. My apologies! This is just a temporary situation.
If there's ever been a time to hire a massage therapist, it's right now: Body aches and pains are at an all-time high after the stress and fatigue of a year spent mostly at home. But since the pandemic is still very much happening and COVID-19 continues to spread, you might be wondering if it's okay to return to a spa-like setting at this time.
Thank you Austin for a decade of continued support and patronage! Here's to many more years to come 🥳

Psoas Pain and Massage

[The psoas] affects every facet of your life, from your physical well-being to who you feel yourself to be and how you relate to the world. A bridge linking the trunk to the legs, the psoas is critical for balanced alignment, proper joint rotation, and full muscular range of motion. … Whether you suffer from a sore back or anxiety, from knee strain or exhaustion, there's a good chance that a constricted psoas muscle might be contributing to your woes.

Liz Koch, The psoas book, 1997

Psoas Pain and Massage The iliopsoas muscle (“illy-oh so-ass”) is a two-in-one hip flexing pair, mostly only palpable through the guts. Its clinical importance is often curiously exaggerated, but sometimes it does need a massage.

Here's Why We Need To Sleep and The Hidden Dangers When We Don't

The real cause of our sleepless nights is high cortisol, that’s according to new Research by the University of California, Berkeley which says once we lower our cortisol, we’ll sleep through the night.
Cortisol is what our body produces when we feel stressed. It's supposed to help us think clearly and make quick decisions.
Scientists at the University of California, Berkeley say because of all the stress we go through for so many years, our body has its internal cortisol production switch stuck in the "on" position and so we're constantly producing cortisol.
They also found that those of us who can’t sleep have extremely high night time cortisol levels which gets our mind over active and keeps awake.
Too much cortisol can lead to serious medical setbacks and new research by Scientists at Berkeley says not getting enough sleep can lead to Heart Disease, Diabetes, Alzheimer's and High Blood Pressure just to name a few.
You can find out more about these studies, what happens when we don't sleep and how we can get a good night's rest by going to this page:
https://www.nutrasenwellness.com/shantisleep
When we lie in bed, wide awake and our mind is over active or we wake up in the middle of the night it's a clear sign that we have too much cortisol.
The best way to get good, deep, restful sleep, Scientists say, is to lower our cortisol. Massage therapy can help to lower cortisol production and relax the body and mind.

8 Stretches You Should Do Every Morning To Feel Strong, Flexible And Grounded - HealthyLifeBoxx

People who work a desk job often struggle from pain or tension in the muscles from sitting all day on the same spot and moving only a few muscles at a time. Shoulder “Abnormalities” May Not Always Be a Cause of Pain or Disability - Massage And Fitness Magazine

Given the weight of the evidence that correlates age with the prevalence of rotator cuffs tears and other asymptomatic shoulder “abnormalities,” not everyone who has these issues experiences pain or has a loss of normal function. Thus, clients and patients who were diagnosed with such abnormalities should not jump to conclusions and be alarmed that they need to be “fixed” or treated with surgery or other interventions.

massagefitnessmag.com Research shows that shoulder “abnormalities” are common in asymptomatic patients, yet many clinicians think that this is a causation to shoulder pain.
