Ambassador Martinez was appointed by President Barack Obama and served as the U.S. ambassador to Argentina from 2009 to 2013, when she was awarded the Order of May (Argentina's highest honor awarded to a foreign national) in recognition of her tenure and for her work on behalf of improving mutual cooperation and understanding.

The OSAA Office is excited to launch a Policy on the Rocks networking event series for alumni, faculty, and students.
The Policy on the Rocks series will consist of networking sessions with alumni, faculty, and students. Each session will be policy-specific so attendees can talk about career paths, current events, and other issues relevant to their area of interest.

On this , we would like to showcase the incredible impact of our donors on student success at The LBJ School of Public Affairs. Niina Nomura, a second year MGPS student, is a recipient of the Dean’s Fellowship this year.
Niina is an international student from Japan, studying international development at the LBJ School. Niina has been involved in research and M&E on anti-poverty and community development in East Africa and strives to create actionable poverty alleviation policies that benefit communities around the world. Niina has a bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Education and worked as a high school teacher before entering the LBJ School.
When asked about the impact of the Dean’s Fellowship, Niina said, "The LBJ fellowship has provided me, a first-generation college student with a single parent, with the most meaningful academic life with no financial burden."

Alumni Spotlight: The LBJ School of Public Affairs alumnus Erine Gray (MPAff '04), founder and CEO of Aunt Bertha and Find Help, is using technology to make it easier for anyone who has a need to access social service programs available locally in their communities.
Grey understands the difference that social service programs can make; he was born in public housing and his family occasionally relied on food stamps. As an adult, he became his disabled mother's legal guardian and came to learn how hard it was to help someone who had a disability.
