Functional Girl

In 2021 I was diagnosed with two degenerative neurological diseases - Essential Tremor and Cervical Dystonia. These are both progressive movement disorders that cause uncontrollable shaking.

Aside from the actor in me who was convinced no one was ever going to book me again and the romantic in me who was convinced no one was ever going to want me again, the photographer in me was devastated. I thought it was the end of my shooting days and I put my camera down.

Last year, after much encouragement, I finally got tired of feeling sorry for myself, and slowly started photographing people I trusted to be kind as I started working that muscle again.

A few weeks ago I spent a Sunday hanging out with my WIFTies; we did yoga, talked and had an absolute blast of a photo shoot. This is my favorite photo from that day -- thank you for letting me capture your exquisiteness.

16 years ago matched me with Sammy, and my life was forever changed in the most profound way.

Poodle, I am an infinitely better human being because you're my sister. I love you more than I could ever adequately express in words, I'm so proud of the woman you've become and I'm thrilled I get a front row seat to the life you're building.

It hasn't always been easy because we're both chaos goblins, but the best things take work. I'm in your corner always, even when we run amok.
