WE CAN’T RELY SOLEY ON OUR CHILDREN TO BRING US JOY.

This happens often, I want to do something fun with my daughter like visit a new playground or treat her to an ice cream and it bites me right back in the ass.

Tantrums about forgetting to pack the water bottle or getting too sticky while eating ice cream in 100 degree heat. The crying, the kicking, the embarrassment of being yelled at by your own child in public.

Appreciation for being a fun mom is hard won. Honestly, I don’t think she’ll really get it until she has her own kid.

This is why, I seek joy outside of my family. I turn to the challenge of working out to bring me happiness. Challenging your body to do new things will bring you a sense of accomplishment and pride. Your partner and your kids can’t give you that.

🏃🏻‍♀️WHAT IF YOU COULD RUN AGAIN? (without the fear of injury)🏃🏻‍♀️

Last week I cried actual tears of joy for a grad from the Pilates Plan for Busy Moms.

Christina told me that for the first time in YEARS she finally ran again! She stopped running because of a back injury that made made running extremely painful. She loves running and made it a goal to run again at the beginning of the course. Less than 10 weeks later she DID IT.

I’m so incredibly proud of Christina. Her dedication to showing up to class every single week paid off. Best of all she was able to share her incredible WIN with our small and amazing group.

I fully take advantage of Mother’s Day, by letting John do almost everything😆

I do not:
Make breakfast or any meal (nope)
Do a single dish (nuhuh)
Deal with a tantrum (hell no!)
Take care of bath time or bedtime (negative)

I deserve a day off and so do you!

Is it possible to yell at your kids less (without reading another parenting book)?

Don’t get me wrong some parenting books have good points about how children do age appropriate things that make us angry. Most of the advice I’ve read want you to put yourself in a time-out to collect yourself and practice deep breathing. Let’s get real, we need more than a couple of deep breaths to stop being so angry sometimes.

There have been studies that show that exercise can be a prophylactic for anger. Yes, the more consistently you exercise the better you can manage your anger and you’ll feel less angry. You may have thought to yourself, “I’d be more patience with my family, if I could just exercise more” and you are right. Exercise releases a bunch of neurotransmitters and hormones that make you feel happy. Consistent exercise means you can consistently release these ”happy hormones.”

If you want to stop:
🛑Feeling so angry with your kids/partner
🛑Telling yourself you’ll workout tomorrow(and never do)
🛑Reading another parenting book that makes you feel inadequate

Do you have tech neck? So do I.

Today I was filming myself in profile I could clearly see my tech neck. Honestly, I cringed. But then I remembered it’s not how I look but how I feel. I rarely get pain in my neck. I’ve learned how to move my head and neck to keep it feeling good. I do Pilates to feel good, not look good.

Somewhere along the past year, with my constant image projected back at me on zoom, I learned to care less about how my body looks. I realized that the work I was doing was helping my body and brain feel good and that’s what really matters. Perfect posture is bullsh*t. No one has that. Look at your body and appreciate it for all that it’s done for you. Treat it well with movement and breath and your body will keep showing up for you day after day. I’ll teach you how to move to feel good not only in your body but in your mind. DM to find out about my weekly classes or the next round of the Pilates Plan for Busy Moms.
