PTA Meeting - 3/30/21

Join us on Zoom this tomorrow evening (April 7th) from 6:30 to 7:30 for a PTA meeting and some insight from our guest speaker Dr. Mike Brooks. His topic is:

The Road Back to Normalcy After an Insane Year

Description: To say that it's been a difficult year is an understatement - a pandemic, lockdowns, quarantines, more screen time than ever, educational disruptions, a crazy election and heated polarization, and a blizzard in Texas! We have suffered, and our kids have too. Yet, there is hope. The vaccines are rolling out, and the promise of a return to normalcy is on the horizon. How do we make this transition though? How can we support our kids, and one another, as we try to get back on track with our lives? Psychologist and Small Middle School parent Dr. Mike Brooks is on this journey with you and will offer advice and answer your questions (or try to!) in this Zoom presentation on Tuesday April 30 at 6:30. We hope you will join us!

Please fill out this form to have the zoom link emailed to you. Dr. Brooks is also asking for questions you might like to discuss. You can add them to this registration: https://forms.gle/8TesgEfPZm57ag4s7

Hello,

This is Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, Superintendent of Austin ISD. I hope you are staying safe and warm during this historic weather event.

Our district will remain closed through Friday, February 19 except for select essential personnel. This means there will be no asynchronous instruction on Friday as previously communicated.

We have several campuses serving as warming centers for ANY individuals or families who may need access to a warm place from 9 am-9 pm at the following locations:

Lee Elementary at 3308 Hampton Rd
Murchison Middle School at 3700 N Hills Dr
Joslin Elementary School at 4500 Manchaca Road
Shelters for our most vulnerable populations with a medical need for power are located at

Mendez Middle School at 5106 Village Square Dr,
Reilly Elementary at 405 Denson Dr,
Lastly, the City of Austin is asking all who have power, water or gas to preserve these resources -- turn down thermostats and only use what is absolutely necessary. Only use 911 for life-threatening emergencies. And, do not use any outdoor heating or cooking devices indoors or place generators indoors.

Please continue to stay off the roads and remain home as much as possible. We continue to plow ahead, as it is the only way to keep the roads clear!

Stephanie S. Elizalde
Superintendent

Hola:

Stephanie S. Elizalde
Superintendente

If your home is without heat and you need access to resources, The City of Austin, Travis County and community partners have activated cold weather shelters and warming centers for as long as conditions dictate. For more info call the 24/7 hotline: 512-305-4233. Northeast HS and Mendez MS will be open day and night and Murchison MS and Lee Elementary schools are open 9am to 9pm.
