What should you do after a breakup?

What should you do after a breakup?

Society often tells us that you need to take time, do your own work first, and then consider starting something new. Granted, if you are recovering from a relationship that is abusive or that otherwise made your life chaotic, it might be better to wait and do some work learning how to regulate and love yourself until you feel you could choose a better partner.

New! “Everyone’s a Critic” 12-Week Self-Compassion Group by Dr. Erica Mathis

The need for perfection and performance drives us to the brink of burnout, leaving us feeling overworked and unfulfilled.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You deserve a chance at self-love and kindness. You deserve care and compassion, just like everyone else. And, you deserve a space to learn how.

We are excited to introduce a new psychotherapy group, “Everyone’s a Critic!” led by Dr. Erica Mathis. This group will focus on helping members increase self-compassion by developing kinder relationships with themselves. Overcoming Screen Exhaustion 04/30/2021

Overcoming Screen Exhaustion

If you have been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or otherwise sick of virtual meetings, you are not alone. Recent studies have begun to examine the effects of virtual meeting and screen fatigue, recently called “Zoom Gloom” by folks on social media. Whether you are a therapist seeing clients all day, a teacher or student attending online classes, or part of a remote work team, you might be at risk of developing Zoom Gloom. Of course, it’s not like what we are seeing is specific to Zoom – just like “Googling” something is synonymous with doing an online search, “Zooming” has become synonymous with virtual meetings. However, if you are attending back-to-back virtual meetings during your work day, then chances are you’ve felt the effects.

The 4 Biggest Myths About Self-Compassion

The 4 Biggest Myths About Self-Compassion
By: Dr. Kyler Shumway

Self-compassion has been around for more than two thousand years – but most of us still don’t want it.

We put the needs of others above our own. We punish, criticize, and hate ourselves for our mistakes and foibles. And we hold ourselves to unrealistic standards, ones that set us up for failure and make us feel broken. Sounds familiar, huh.

Imagine how you’d feel if you knew a friend or loved one was treating themselves that way. Upset? Sad? Angry? If you truly love them, you wouldn’t want them to mistreat themselves like that, right? And yet, this is the way so many of us relate to ourselves.

It is so much easier for us to have compassion for others than it is to extend that same love towards ourselves.

But, why? https://deepeddypsychotherapy.com/the-4-biggest-myths-about-self-compassion/

The 4 Biggest Myths About Self-Compassion Learn about self-compassion and why people tend not to use it. Written by Deep Eddy Psychotherapy psychologist Dr. Kyler Shumway.
