We all need a Green Room.
In theater, the green room is a sanctuary - a place off-stage to regain composure before the next act. I painted this because I’ve been thinking about how we handle being knocked down.
Sometimes, you just need to quiet the mind in order to dissolve the surrounding chaos. I named this painting Calming the Mind in Sage. It’s about tuning out the noise and reconnecting with universe until you’re able to gain the strength to stand back up.
If things feel loud right now, I hope this green room gives you a second to breathe. 🌿 Share this with someone who’s struggling to get back on their feet.
Susan Raine Artist and I attended our very first Art of the Portrait conference in Atlanta, GA, a few weeks ago. Portrait Society of America does an amazing job of organizing over 700 attendees! The workshops were inspirational, and everyone was so kind!

Depths of Dreaming is headed to in the East Village in NYC for their annual Women Artists Exhibition. I was one of 16 artists selected, and I couldn’t be happier. The exhibitions runs March 11- April 11, and the opening reception will be March 12 6-9pm. Unfortunately, (mom) broke her collarbone, so I won’t be able to attend, but I encourage anyone who’s in the area to check it out and let me know your thoughts!

I’m playing around with texture on this plein air landscape. Just experimenting with different types of brushes and mark making. I usually don’t paint this thick, so it’s fun to try out different techniques. I started it in the park, and I’m finishing it in the studio. I’m new to plein air, but I’m really enjoying it!

Just finished The Color of Quiet, 8”x8” oil on a fiber paste ground over a dark Kona stained wood panel. Painting it reminded me that it’s okay to slow down and get lost in something beautiful. The delicate temperature changes in the petals was meditative to paint. I really enjoyed working on this one. Swipe to see the progression. 👈
