Yesterday we celebrated moms throughout the U.S. for #MothersDay, but we also celebrate their children. It is important to remember to count any children who are living with you when you respond to the #2020Census. Young children are some of the population that has been historically undercounted in the past. Make sure to count all children including grandchildren, foster children, nieces, and nephews that live with you. Respond today at 2020census.gov to make sure all children benefit from proper health care, schools, and so much more. 2020census.gov

How to Quickly Minimize Morning Sickness with Acupressure Comfort Measures and Essential Oils…

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share a success story with you...

I had a male patient who came in to see me for back pain and in our conversation he mentioned his wife was suffering from severe morning sickness.

After his Acupuncture treatment, I showed him how to safely and effectively administer the Acupressure Comfort Measure (instructional video below) on his wife to quickly minimize her morning sickness and also placed one drop of peppermint on her wrist.

https://vimeo.com/142463224

Within a matter of seconds she said she noticed a dramatic improvement and was amazed how fast and effective it worked!

To make a long story short, she is now a huge fan of peppermint and puts it in her diffuser everyday and also presses on the Acupressure Comfort Measure point.

She also mentioned that it is great at covering up others smells in her home that would otherwise exacerbate her morning sickness.

I did some research on the essential oil peppermint and I found that it has been proven in a peer-reviewed randomized clinical trial that it works great for significantly reducing nausea post c-sections and also works better than anti-emetics for reducing nausea [2].

What!!!

How cool is that!!!

With that in mind, if you can go out and try this on your clients, family members, friends, and co-workers and report back to me by tagging me on FB and letting me know about your personal success story utilizing my Acupressure Comfort Measure along with the essential oil peppermint that would be awesome!

Method of Application Prenatally:
For symptoms of nausea or vomiting: Inhalation by diffusion or any other method works well in combination with topical application to the temples or wrist around the Acupuncture Point Pericardium 6, which is 2 inches up the wrist crease. If you have skin sensitivities, I would recommend diluting in almond oil before applying it to the skin.

Method of Application Postpartum:
For symptoms of nausea on a postpartum basis, I would recommend putting the peppermint essential oil on a cotton ball, smell it as needed, and then store it in a ziplock bag keeping it away from your baby, then breastfeed your baby.

Ingesting Peppermint:
According to the International La Leche League they recommend a mother should avoid ingesting peppermint, like peppermint tea and other products that contact peppermint on a regular basis especially in large amounts because this can decrease your milk supply.

In the instructional video I didn't mention this but the Acupressure Comfort Measure KI27 also works great for acid-reflux too...

If you are interested learning more amazing Acupressure Comfort Measures from me on How to Quickly Minimize pregnancy-related concerns, to promoting a natural, shorter, more comfortable, and positive birth, and also on How to promote a faster and easier postpartum recovery for your clients, then I would like to personally invite you to my upcoming Acupressure Comfort Measure Workshop for Birth Professionals in Austin, TX on Wed Dec 5, 2018 from 9am-6pm and Earn 8 CEUS!

Hello world, I'm here! 😃 Check out this doula photog at a recent birth from our doula Heather @wilddovedoula She says, "Check out this sweet picture I got, it’s like she’s looking at the camera right as she came out!"

This baby girl had a different birth plan than her parents, born via c-section because she flipped during labor, but it all worked out for the best and everyone was happy. ❤️

That face you make when you're thinking, OMG, I just had a baby! 😧 She couldn't believe it once she held her baby in her arms. See that sweet little baby hat peeking out from the blankets?

Giving birth can be very surreal even after you're holding a baby in your arms!

This baby gave her mom a challenge during labor and had different plans for her entrance into this world. Baby girl was born via c-section after 4 hours of pushing.

All is well and another positive birth experience achieved with amazing doula support by our doula @kellpedrozodoula ❤️

Reposted from @pregnancyafterlosssupport ~ "On the day I heard the most dreadful words, “There is no heartbeat,” my own heart broke into a million tiny pieces. I struggled to know if I was a parent. I worried you would be forgotten. And, even though time has passed, as we head into Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month, I want people to know that because of you, my child, my life forever changed. You existed. You mattered. You will not be forgotten.

Because of you, my child, I became a parent.

Because of you, my child, there is a hole in my heart that can never be repaired.

Because of you, my child, I became a member of the club no one wants to join, and yet found the most incredible community.

Because of you, my child, I know great love.

We are often encouraging our clients to sleep while they can when they call us in early labor. It seems counterintuitive, but sleep can actually help get stronger, more regular contractions going! When your body is more relaxed, it can bump up the oxytocin and let labor take over.

So please, sleep when your doulas tell you to sleep! 😉 You'll never regret sleeping in labor, but might regret not sleeping and wish you had once the stronger contractions get going and it's much harder to rest. However, it is possible to take a 2 min nap between strong contractions, even during pushing!

This photo is of our doula @kellpedrozodoula who says, "This will be your quality of sleep in two years. For the love of god take a nap before the kids come along!" 😄

Rest is power!✨ Take away from this Black Breastfeeding Week? By resting for Collective Power, our black mothers are showing us yet again how to remother ourselves and this nation.

Mama Glow - BLACK BREASTFEEDING WEEK - August 25-31.
_
Reclaim your rest. As we observe the 9th annual Black Breastfeeding Week we lean into the theme - The Big Pause: Rest ….
_
This theme is a reminder to make devoted time for our bodies, minds and spirits to rest so that we can restore ourselves and our communities. Our ancestors did not have the privilege of rest. When we choose to disrupt the productivity paradigm and lay down, nap, sleep, meditate, daydream etc… we center our peace and we restore our collective power. For us to serve others we have to rest.
_
How have you been observing pause in your lives? How have you been resting this past week? What practices can and will you commit to keeping up?

Love this message of rest for Black Breastfeeding Week 2021 ✨

Happy Black Breastfeeding Week!
This year is all about The Big Pause: Collective Rest for Collective Power.
And this theme could not be more of an A+ approach to healthy breastfeeding!
How do you grow your milk supply? Rest. Full REM cycle rest daily.
How do you grow your power? You receive it from your deep well of inspiration and everlasting strength WHEN YOU REST.
❓But Jess, how is rest an action that grows power?
Let's discuss and honor the real power move our gorgeous black mothers are demonstrating for us (may we all take heed, listen, and learn now):
✨ Resting for Collective Power means no longer validating the rat race of worthiness and rolling in circles swinging and defending your right to be, to exist, as you are right now.
✨ By resting into the pause, the momentum of dissociation and disregard surrounding black maternal health also loses some steam, even for just a day, beckoning us in to listen more closely to those who are living the data as daily life.
✨From this reduced momentum comes the possibility to rest and receive the parasympathetic stimulation needed for INSPIRED THOUGHTS AND ACTION INSTEAD OF SYMPATHETIC FIGHT OR FLIGHT REACTIVITY
✨ Power to, power with, and power from within are expressions of inspired action born not from a place of fear or reactivity, but from rest and heartfelt understanding and desire.
✨This promotes lasting change directed by inspired vision, where each step forward isn't about justifying to a broken system why each human is worthy of culturally-matched, evidence-based, community honored care. It is about only putting effort toward the desired outcome and letting the rest go. Adaptation by choice, not by oppression, directed by love and not fear.

Take away? By resting for Collective Power, our black mothers are showing us yet again how to remother ourselves and this nation. Support Black Breastfeeding Week 2021 by donating to the link in the comments below ❤️
