To all The Cutting Room clients, friends and family,

As much as we wanted to share this news individually and in person, time is running short.

We have been in business in Austin for 32 years. During that time we have created deep and valuable relationships. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your part in this journey.
As the years have passed, we all knew the time was coming for the Salon to close. The building has sold and the last day of business at 1705 Nueces will be June 20, 2020.

I will be remaining in Austin seeing clients in a different location till the end of 2020. My hope is to help each of you find a new home for your hair care. Hair color formulas and any tip and tricks will be graciously shared with you and your new stylist.

I will be remaining in Austin and working in another location until I move to Brownsville.
I want to thank each and every one of my clients past and present for your years of loyalty and friendship. It has been a pleasure. It has also been a pleasure to get to know all of the clients in our 32 years as The Cutting Room.
Any color formulas or tips will be gladly provided, as they are yours. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

To our Dear Cutting Room clients,

We will be reopening on Tuesday, May 19, with only a few service providers working. We have implemented several new protocols to ensure that we provide you with as safe an environment as we can!

We are planning to call our clients over the next few days to schedule appointments. Please call and leave a message at 512-320-1520. We are working without front desk staff, so please be patient.

We will be asking all clients to do the following:

• Reschedule your appointment if you or anyone in your household has covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has covid-19 symptoms.

• Please wait In your car till your appointment time to minimize clients waiting in the salon.

• Arrive at the salon with only your phone and a form of payment. Please refrain from bringing larger handbags.

• Arrive at the salon wearing your facemask. Preferably one that wraps around your ears and not your head or neck. Note that we will all be wearing masks at all times.

• Before starting your service, we will request that you thoroughly wash or sanitize your hands.

• No one can accompany you at the salon during your appointment including children.

• You must maintain adequate social distancing of 6 feet apart with everyone at the salon except your service provider.

• Beverages, smocks and magazines will temporarily be unavailable.

• You are encouraged to shop our retail area, but please ask your service provider to handle any product that you are interested in buying.

The Cutting Room is invested in creating a safe environment for both its clients and service providers. This includes doubling the number of cleaning hours, purchasing PPEs and extending hours of operation to lower the number of people in the salon at any-one time.

The Cutting Room is so excited to welcome you back! The last few months have been very challenging and we look forward to reconnecting with all of you!

We appreciate you,
Robin Krier

Update COVID-19

Good day! I hope this finds you and your family in good health. The most recent update from TDLR, as of April 27th, the Governor’s orders to keep physical distancing is still in effect for our industry until May 18th. We are not part of the Phase 1 reopening and they will reassess at a later time for a Phase 2 option. This is just a friendly reminder, that we are not lawfully permitted to work on clients at the salon, your home, or my home at this time.
I’ve attached what we were sent from our licensing department:

Cosmetology Salons, Nail Salons, Estheticians, Mini-Salons and Massage Therapy Establishments Remain Closed. Under Executive Order GA-18 issued by Gov. Greg Abbott on April 27, all cosmetology salons (including nail salons, estheticians, and mini-salons), barber shops, and massage establishments shall continue to remain closed. Executive Order GA-18 overrides all local and county orders. Whether a salon or shop is a sole proprietorship or not, they are to remain closed until Executive Order GA-18 is amended or rescinded. Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep Texas safe by remaining closed. To read more about the Governor's plan to reopen Texas, please go to

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience from cancelling your appointments due to our current health risk situation. We are hopeful that we may be able to get back to taking care of your hair and skincare needs after May 18th, but please realize that things are changing on a day to day assessment of the health of our community. We want to thank you in advance for hanging in there with us. We have so much love and respect for you as clients and the friendship that we have built over the years. Your patience, trust, and support have meant the world to us. We are happy to answer any questions and help in anyway that does not compromise your safety or the safety of our community.

Austin matters

Austin’s fragile local food ecosystem is crumbling. As the coronavirus crisis deepens, people ordering food for delivery - ingredients, kits, or prepared food - has gone up. But because services like Lettuce ( and Farmance ( have such little public awareness, most people are jumping to services that have spent billions in venture capital on marketing - you know, the Blue this, Hello that, something Fresh and what not. None of them are local, sustainable, zero-waste, or profitable. And, even if it’s us saying so, simply not as good!

The sad result will be that the coronavirus will potentially create a whole new wave of unsustainable consumption - nutrient-deficient food flying long distances from factory farms, and enormous packaging waste 🤮 - fueling the other, potentially more devastating crisis staring at us - climate change.

While right here in Austin, our fragile local food ecosystem is at the cusp of devastation. With restaurants cutting back or closing abruptly, our entire supply chain - farmers, ranchers & distributors are hurting big time and some may not survive this crisis. They are looking at direct to consumer services like Lettuce and Farmance for respite. Otherwise, Big Ag(riculture) will win, again. :(

We don’t have the millions in venture capital to counter this. But we have you! If you believe in what we stand for, please help us by taking a moment to spread the word by sharing this post, and telling your neighbors in Austin about us on and beyond.

Thank you. 💚❤️

Milia, have you ever noticed these types of bumps on your skin? Extracting them on your own can be difficult. Proper exfoliation and hydration can help keep your skin in balance and will inhibit formation of Milia.

Wearing Sunblock should be part of everyone's daily skincare routine.

There's a lot of talk about sunscreen and the environment lately, so it's important for the public to know the importance of sun protection.

Share this with your patients to educate them about sunscreen ingredients, and remind them to seek shade and wear protective clothing to avoid the sun's harmful rays.

Healthy skin never looked so good.

I can’t stop looking at these Before & After photos of my client. We are targeting pigmentation from sun exposure. This is after 2 treatments in a series of 6. Let me know if you are ready to try this treatment.
