A Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) is created by supercooling a low-density gas. Recently, Physicists have created a BEC using a quasiparticle. Unlike a typical atom, quasiparticles are exotic atoms--atoms which have one of their electrons replaced with another subatomic particle.

After being delayed several times, Artemis I is set to launch Nov. 16th, 2022, marking NASA's first launch into space since the Space Shuttle program ended in 2011. The unmanned ship is capable of hauling upwards of 56,000 lbs, and will act as a test flight for future manned missions using the same SLS technology. If successfully launched, the subsequent flight of Artemis II will be the first manned mission on the Artemis program.

High schooler Dasia Taylor started work on her color-changing sutures in October of 2019. Human skin is naturally acidic, so when Taylor set to making a suture that changed color, she focused on detecting the PH change that occurs at infection sites. Her sutures start off as a bright red color, changing to dark purple when the PH of the infected area spikes. She hopes that her sutures can be used in developing countries to find and treat infections early.

Researchers from Korea use quantum computing to develop a "transparent radiative cooler", or TRC. Ultraviolet light, imperceptible to the human eye, passes through glass as heat. A TRC's job is to only let through the visible light spectrum, bouncing away UV light, not letting any heat pass through. This TRC can be applied to windows to do just that.

Common ingredients found in soap compounds have promising results dissolving certain polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly shortened to PFAS. PFAS are chemicals mostly found in single use plastics and are known to pollute water sources and soil. This soap based approach will hopefully provide a cheap way to rid communities of PFAS.
