The integration of landscape and interiors into architecture is critical to the experience of the end user. A house that looks onto nothing has no point of view. An interior that doesn’t acknowledge the landscape and provides comfort and sanctuary is just Furniture, Finishes and Equipment . Architecture that doesn’t integrate all three disciplines is just a container.

It’s great to be visiting the country of my birth and experiencing the explosive growth all around. India is a country where the modern and the ancient constantly meet and collaborate and conspire to create the new and inspired. An early morning visit to the Delhi Flower Market with friends , Anil and Chinmayi was acolorful adventure filled with exuberance, excitement and the hustle and bustle of this huge facility of commerce in one of the great cities of the world.

Sitting in my backyard contemplating the concept of first written about in "La frontera" (1978) by and feeling inspired by how applicable it is to me and my life.

According to Anzaldua, the actual is when someone is of a mixed race, or when two cultures collide and merge.

This certainly describes my life experience except, living in Texas, I have much more than two-cultures overlapping.

In the preface to Anzaldua's book, she says: “the Borderlands are physically present wherever two or more cultures edge each other, where people of different races occupy the same territory, where under, lower, middle and upper classes touch, where the space between two individuals shrinks with intimacy.”
