In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting a risk-taking pioneer in the wine industry – Theodora R. Lee. One of the first African American female winery owners, Theodora Lee grew up on her family’s farm outside of Dallas and had a successful career as a full-time lawyer before embarking on her passion project – growing grapes and making wine. Her first wine, a Petite Sirah, received a gold medal from Sunset Magazine and today she releases around 800 cases of wine each year with Theopolis Vineyards. In addition to making incredible wine, Theodora Lee remains a powerful force for change, calling on the wine industry to give Black voices a seat at the table. Cheers to you, Ms. Lee!
