What a weekend! This was easily our biggest Rancho Alegre Conjunto Music Festival ever. We somehow managed to dodge several rain storms, see old friends, make new ones, and remember those we've lost but who were there in spirit. We got to celebrate bringing new groups to our festival and jam out to some legends and longtime favorites.
Before we thank the long list of individuals who made this possible (and we desperately hope we haven't left anyone out), we want to thank all of YOU for your support. Thank you for showing up and giving us the biggest crowds we've ever had. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word about the event, even if you weren't able to attend in person. Special thanks to Ephraim Bosmans for getting the word out and continuing to be the incredible Conjunto Ambassador that he is.
Thank you to all of the bands who performed! Every single one of them brought their A-game and put on a fabulous show: Conjunto Los Pinkys, Mark Weber y Los Cuernos, Eva Ybarra y Conjunto Siempre, Joe Mercado y Los Texas Cuatro Exitos, Joe Zimmerle y Su Conjunto, Brenda Martinez, David Martinez y Conjunto X, Conjunto Puro Corazon, Conjunto Baraja de Oro, Rene Joslin y Los Favoritos, Chano Cadena Y Su Conjunto, Johnny Degollado y JJ Barrera, Cecilia and the Broken Hearts, Roger Arocha y Su Conjunto, Conjunto Impulso Ernesto Cadena, Gilberto Perez Jr y Su Conjunto, Los Cucuys de Rodney Rodriguez and special Tejano guest Johnny Hernandez!
We want to thank the phenomenal staff at Central Machine Works Austin, The Far Out Lounge and Stage and Stubb's Austin for hosting us. We've treasured our relationship with Stubb's since our first year there in 2017, and we're looking forward to working with CMW and The Far Out again in the future.
Thank you to the all the media outlets and reporters who covered and helped promote the festival: Austin Vida, Austin Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman, Austin360, Candy Rodriguez KXAN, KXAN News, K*T Austin, Tejano Nation. Thank you to Motorblade Postering Service for putting up our posters all over town.
Thank you to the Texas Country Reporter for coming out and filming on Friday night at CMW. We can't wait to see the final product!
Thank you to Susan Nevarez and Frank Cruz for joining us early on Thursday morning and jamming for the KXAN piece.
Thank you to Bob Zink for bringing a bunch of his fabulous photos and 45s for a great little exhibit on Sunday at Stubbs.
Thank you to our sponsors and supporters: City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, Texas Commission on the Arts, I Print For Less, JF Mechanical Services, Tex Tune Automotive, Austin Manual Therapy Associates, Texas Folklife, Gottfried Alexander Law Firm, Tex Tune Automotive, Cynthia & Gonzalo Rodriguez, Esperanza & Ricardo Rodriguez, Fern Landscapes, Lovemytejano.com, and Sassy Media.
Thank you to our production partners Compadresmusic.com, Full Gallop, GA Productions and Sergio Soto.
And last but not least, thank you to our hardworking staff and board members who made three days of Conjunto madness work. We always say that we are the little festival that could.
We're already looking forward to next year and LOTS AND LOTS OF ACCORDIONS.
After this, we're headed off to the Big Squeeze 2022 Finals on May 14 at the Bob Bullock Museum in downtown Austin, presented by our colleagues at Texas Folklife. Rancho Alegre proudly sponsors this event every year and Piper will be co-emceeing the event along with Austin Vida's Nancy Flores - come on down and catch a glimpse of the future of Conjunto music!
