In May of 1980, my Mom worked at Gibson's Discount Center just next to DALLAS and she said at the super table "that new place, DALLAS opened up and our parking lot was full of their cars." They hired a tow truck and when cars would park at Gibson's, the tow truck driver would roll up from the back of Gibson's and people would run back to their cars and move them.
For a high school project(Criminal Justice), I rode with an Austin Police Department officer and we "cruised" the parking lot. It was Halloween 1981. He spotlighted the maid, nurse, she-devil and others. In 1982, I snuck in as a minor, the drinking age was 19.
I went to 7113 Burnet Rd. thousands of times over the years. The 1st time in the front seat of a cop car and I have left the premises in the back seat of a cop car. I have been Barred for Life with my picture at the front door, to allowed back in, to VIP, to LIFETIME VIP.
I met the love of my life there in 2000 and we're going strong.
I could be having a bad day/week/month/year but when I walked thru the door there... I was in a whole other world.
I miss you, the DALLAS NITECLUB and Happy Fortieth!
