Pet Spotlight! Meet handsome Pepper 🐈⬛ Pepper’s family wrote, “We adopted Pepper from a Fort Worth shelter in 2004 when he was just 6 weeks old. He and his brother, Rerun, were found alone in a ditch. Rerun has since passed over the rainbow bridge, but Pepper continues to fill our hearts with love. Pepper is 19.5 years old and got his name from sneezing so much as a kitten!” Thank you for sharing Pepper’s story with us! We will never forget his brother, Rerun 🌈 ❤️

It is with a heavy heart that we share that our beloved Shadow has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 🐾🌈🐾 He wandered up to the clinic a few months after Dr. Reinap opened BCVC and quickly became a cherished addition. We will greatly miss Shadow’s calm demeanor and reassuring presence around the clinic. Shadow brought smiles to employees and clients alike, and always found the cutest spots to take a nap or sunbathe. Thank you for all the love and laughs over the years, Shadow. We love you!

Reviewing the information in the illustration from the ASPCA , and making sure the hazards shown are stored safely and out of reach of pets and children is a great place to start! 🐶🐱

Happy 🐱🐶 Did you know that whiskers give pets important information about the world around them? Whiskers are specialized tactile hairs that aid in your pets sense of touch! Whiskers can even help your pet navigate better in the dark by signaling the presence of obstacles as air bounces off surfaces near them during their prowl, causing their whiskers to bend ever so slightly. So, while whiskers certainly add to the cuteness factor of pets, they aren’t just there for looks!

On this day 22 years ago our country experienced an unspeakable act of terror. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost on that day. Alongside the police, first responders and firefighters, more than 300 specially trained dogs took part in the search, rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. Pictured below is Bretagne, the last surviving search and rescue dog from 9/11, who passed away in 2016.
Today we honor and remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day.

with pets! The bond between humans and their pets is mutually beneficial, so let’s make the most of it! Make time for a walk or play session with your pet today and feel the joy that comes with it!

Happy Grandparent’s Day to all of the wonderful grandparents out there! Thank you for all you do!

Important snake safety tips from our friends at Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center
🐍🐾 Snake Safety for Pets: Warm Weather Tips 🐾🐍
As temperatures rise, snakes become more active, potentially crossing paths with our curious pets. Keep them safe:
🏠 At Home: Pets are more likely to encounter snakes around their territory.
🌱 Yard Defense: Tidy up to eliminate hiding spots, clean up spills, and store firewood away.
🐾 Training: Obedience training helps pets respond to commands and stay safe.
🐕 Leash Up: Use a leash to control your dog during outdoor walks.
📞 Seek Help: Contact local animal control if you spot a snake.
🚫 No Touching: Keep pets away from dead snakes to avoid venomous fangs.
📣 We're Here: For snake-related emergencies, call AVES at 512-343-2837.

Did you know pavement temperatures during the summer can be 20-60 degrees higher than the air temperature? Imagine walking on that without protection from shoes - Ouch! A good rule of thumb before venturing out for a walk with your pet is to place your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds, and if you feel pain, so will your pet. Grab some protective pet booties or find a cooler alternative for some exercise, like an exhilarating game of indoor fetch!
Austin dog walking temperatures It’s important for dog owners to keep the pavement temperatures in mind during summertime in Texas.
