Austin Food Not Bombs
Sharing free vegan meals every Saturday
Message the page to get involved! We share it because we believe food is a right, not a privilege.
Austin Food Not Bombs cooks free vegan food out of donated and salvaged produce that would otherwise go to waste. We cook every Saturday and are always happy to have new volunteers. Due to COVID-19, please send us a message so we can figure out how you can get involved safely! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come eat, share, and discuss the finer points of free food with us each weekend.

We invite you to visit as we cook and share delicious vegan meals with the community every Saturday starting at 11AM. If you think food shouldn't be a privilege or have limited accessibility, come join us as we prepare, cook, package, and distribute meals to anyone in need.
130 from our Central Austin kitchen and 69 hearty meals at our South Austin kitchen for a total of 199 meals! We were so close to the 200 mark! 😅
Thanks to and as always for the produce!
If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating to Austin Food Not Bombs. We are all volunteers and operate on zero overhead but we still go through about $300 each month on various expenses such as compostable clamshell containers (our biggest expense), beans, rice, water, spices, and oil. Ever since we started cooking in two kitchens, we've been making up to around 200 meals each week. Those clamshell containers are about $0.25 each, so that's already like $50/week. We also go through maybe 20 pounds of rice, 20 pounds of beans, which are maybe $20. Bottled water is about $20 (though sometimes we are donated soft drinks we can use instead). Most of the other food we use is donated from pantries or groceries.
The amount we receive from donations is highly variable, but our account has been looking slim for the past few months. We have Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/fnbatx) if you are willing to do a recurring donation or Venmo (venmo.com/fnbatx) for one time donation.
If you have extra items such as containers, rice, beans, water, spices, veggies; you can donate them to us directly by coordinating with us and bringing them to one of our kitchens.

Thanks to everyone that came by to say hi at the demonstration held by this Saturday! Let’s keep the momentum going by continuing to serve our communities.
While our north kitchen volunteers went to make their voices heard, our south kitchen made some special meals with falafel that was generously donated by .
We are going to have a table at the No Kings Protest this Saturday March 28 at Auditorium Shores. Feel free to join us there!
In order to support this activity, we will not be cooking at our north location, this Saturday 3/28. We will still be cooking this Saturday at our south kitchen. We will return to cooking at both locations the next week.

We could use some more people who can volunteer to distribute food on Saturdays. If you have a vehicle (like my trusty bike trailer), ' great. It helps to be regular to gain some familiarity with a route and people along it.
