Jim's Country Jam. First Sunday of each month. Sam's Town Point
Operating as usual
[03/16/20] Sam's Town Point is closed until mid-April. Consequently, no Jam in April. At least, this time it's not ME that's sick! Keep the faith, everyone -- this too shall pass!
It was a really fun jam tonight. I'm glad so many folks were there.
Just wondering if someone knows Freddie Williams (red shirt, sunburst acoustic guitar, sang "I Can't Help It"). I loaned him my guitar strap and he forgot to return it. If anyone knows where to reach Fred, I'd appreciate it.
[01/04/20] No jam this Sunday January 5... we'll resume in February... see you then.
[10/06/19] Sorry for the late notice...apparently my "event" didn't post.. . So, NO JAM OCT 6. Pass it along!
[11/27/18] I'm sorry, jammers, but I had to cancel the jam for December. Sam's is rented out for a Christmas Party on Dec 2, and there is no other date available. We'll pick up where we left off in 2019!!! Please pass this along to anyone who might want to know. Thanks.
[09/03/18] Regardless of what I might have said tonight, there WILL be a jam on Oct 7, 2018 at Sam's Town Point... as usual. James Shelton will host... since he's played hundreds of these with me, I think he knows the format by now. I'll be back in the driver's seat in November.
[12/30/16] Jim's Country Jam Focus Group (if you want in, you're in.) I've spoken to Ramsay Midwood at Sam's Town Point about the possibility of doing the jam there. He's initially receptive... would you all come? What are your plusses and minuses? It's got a nice stage, it's clean (at least more than most bars), good dance floor. No food, but maybe someone knows the owner of a food truck that's like to make a few bucks?
[03/18/16] Sorry folks, no jam this week. See you next time.
[06/22/15] I had a great time at the jam tonight... thanks to Bo Porter for starting out the night in a great way... and to Susan Maxey for bringing it home... and all the great performances in between. Special thanks to Debra Hurd Mueller for spending most of the evening on piano. And a shout out to Peggy Stern who reportedly broke her foot! Between me and Peggy, we can't even run a three legged race! See you all on July 5, the next jam night.
[06/07/15] Jim's Country Jam today at El Mercado South, git yerself there!
[05/18/15] Thanks to everyone who came out to jam tonight... we had many great moments and many great pickers. Thanks to John Chandler for handling the AM Band drum seat... Steve Duban, Mike Bee, Billy Nadeau sitting in... On guitar, Mickey, Randy, John Russell, Roy Heinrich, Earl Hunt... relieving James Shelton on steel we had Steve and Dennis... helping Carl Keesee, Mike Potter, Dean Stinsmuehlen, Charlie Irwin... and on piano, along with T Jarrod Bonta, it was Debra Hurd, David Webb and Peggy Stern... not to forget vocalists, Paula Russell, Sebastian Garcia, Paul Podroza, and "Uptown" Alan Barnett... and if I missed anyone, forgive me and correct me... 25 players in all... great gig, all y'all.
[03/02/15] Thanks to everyone who came to Jim's Country Jam tonight... there were MANY golden moments. And thanks to the guys in the AM Band for helping me get in and out, up and down, and oiling the machinery of the jam! And, of course, my sweet wife, Dana, without whom, I'd be nowhere!
[01/29/15] BREAKING NEWS.... this just in. El Mercado is moving into the new room on Sunday -- between my absence, the Super Bowl and necessity, it seemed like an opportune time. SO... pass it along... NO JAM ON SUNDAY. See you on Feb 15. --Jim
