Why Goth Culture Is Condemned to Be a Fashion Inspiration - StyleZeitgeist During this past fashion show season one of the most talked about collections was the runway debut of Bottega Veneta under its new creative director, Daniel Lee.

For our final week we will be closing an hour early (at 6) through Sunday. While the shop looks rather empty, we still have beautiful pieces by our consignment jewelers, clothing by Gail, neon signs and vintage boots by Evan and store fixtures, so I encourage you to come by and say hi/bye. Thanks everyone !

Blackmail Boutique on South Congress to close March 24 Rising rents, development all around and the disappearing authenticity of South Congress is why the owner said they're closing their doors for good.

After 21 years in business -- 18 of them on S Congress Ave -- Blackmail Boutique will finish its final lease and close on March 24 2019 (as if it were graduating from high school at 18, or college at 21 !)

The owners -- Gail Chovan and her husband/partner Evan Voyles -- wish to thank their loyal employees, customers, friends, and neighbors for participating in this incredibly sustained and beautiful project. "It is very difficult -- and lucky -- to survive and thrive for over two decades in retail; in any market at any time. We have fulfilled our mission, and are leaving to devote more time to other pursuits," says Gail Chovan, who is now a full-time professor at The University of Texas At Austin in the division of Textiles & Apparel. "We invite all who have loved the store to come in over the next 5 weeks and make your final purchases, including many of the props and fixtures from our long theatrical run!" she added.

Opened in 1997, Chovan (partnered with Voyles) opened Blackmail on South Lamar amid a cluster of vintage clothing stores. Over the years, the location and thematic changes that followed, Blackmail became known for innovative fashion shows featuring Chovan's often-daring designs, award winning window displays, and eclectic offerings.
