Kaizen Cookout // 05-02-26

These are some photos I shot at Hunters cookout for .kaizen.club over this past weekend. Johnny cooked up some scrumptious food a lot of the group showed up to hang out, socialize, watch movies, shoot pool. Great group of people and a great turnout.

I unfortunately wasn’t able to make it out to this weekend with my friends due to plans I had in advance with in Houston. So I lent out my camera to my friend so she could capture the weekend in my absence.

While she thinks these photos are bad, personally I was impressed by someone who’s never used Sony A7RV or prime lenses prior to this day to pick it up and capture these amazing frames and not on (auto). These are only a few of the shots she captured and I was able to color grade last night. Also shout out to the .kaizen.club for showing up and being part of the event.

I don’t normally partake in model shoots since it’s not my style, though this was more of a brand shoot for the clothing company (the shirts they were rocking). But I will still take them when asked. These actually came out really nice, I also FINALLY got to use my 135mm 1.8/f for some blown out portraits. The first 3-4 images where the compression blows out the background and bleeds into the foreground.. This shoot was such a blast for a creative mind. Theme was gothic, sunrise, and graveyards. 🌅

I rarely take portraits so these aren’t perfect by any means. I can definitely tell where I didn’t change my f/stop and where the images suffered and weren’t in focus because of it. But you live and you learn. I’m excited to take portraits again just so I can try what I’ve learned from this shoot. 🖤

Actually excited for show season to be starting back up in San Antonio again and the surrounding cities. It’s been a bit slow here IMO. But ready for LowClass soon.

Thought I would finally post my car now that I have some work done on it. Still waiting on my wheels to ship from JP. This weekends install was my Airlift performance system, clear tails, and my 25mm rear sway bar. The .crew_ was out there for 8 hours working, test fitting lines and running this setup properly (not half assed). I literally cannot thank this group of people enough for the hands this weekend. So honestly thank you to those who came out to help, to those that came out to just hang out and keep everyone company, or everyone who came to cookout with us after! Seriously!

It’s been awhile since I made a post that I actually like. Going back through these old photos that I never finished editing or posted on any of my feeds made me realize that it’s been awhile since I actually enjoyed taking photos. I wouldn’t particularly say the color grade is my absolute favorite but the style is something I miss a lot. Not that I’m saying these shots are anything crazy.. Recently it’s felt like so many events, gatherings, hangouts or whatever you want to call it have been disappointing and the content that I’ve taken has been lackluster at best. I’ve felt it and I know it reflects across a lot of my work. Looking back and re-editing these photos made me realize how much I stopped trying when taking photos, specific angles and shots that I’ve forgotten about. It’s frustrating going through old work and realizing you’ve regressed in certain parts of your own art but have still grown in other areas.

I think throughout the rest of this year I want to spend more time taking shots that I enjoy, going back through the basics, and combining both the new stuff I’ve learned with the old style I’ve forgotten. I’m also hoping more events actually start up in San Antonio again because everything I’ve attended has been a bit lackluster. Maybe it’s time to start networking more and reaching out for private shoots again. IDK. But anyways thanks for listening to my nonsense, hope you like the photos.
