"The tenderness and patience shown to my pet was exemplary. Professional , knowledgeable, and welcoming atmosphere was comforting and made me feel I made the right choice for the eye care for my pet. Wonderful experience." says Judy on Google
Did you know we have a Chihuahua whisperer?🌸 Our Chihuahua nanny has been hard at work making sure these little guys have all the comfort and support needed until they are reunited with their pet parents. Let's give Megan a couple extra likes!! ❤️
"Amazing!! Dr Shifrin restored my baby’s vision! He was amazingly thorough! He was very honest and caring. The moment they brought her out to me, I knew it was all worth it. The nursing staff is equally amazing! Megan, Ashley, Mercedes, and others were so very caring! I knew my baby was in good hands! They truly love their jobs!" says Jennifer on Google
We are thrilled that more people embrace pets into their households and choose our clinic to support them along this journey.

With this, we ask for some of your kindness and patience as we navigate increased demand, alongside the changes the pandemic brought, which have shaped the way we all operate.

We are committed to providing the same level of care to all our clients, both old and new, and appreciate your support as we all adapt to these new times.

To help us best help your pet, please schedule non-emergency appointments well in advance, allow for longer turnaround on refills and requests, and plan to spend additional time in the clinic to avoid potential conflicts.

Thank you for helping us best help your pet with your positivity and patience.
"Dr. Dees is really great with our dog, and does a good job of explaining things and monitoring the condition of his eyes. Staff is always friendly and helpful when calling, and we're happy with the treatment we've received here." says Coco on Google

🎆 Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!! 🎆
Is there a better way to have your blood pressure taken? Normal blood pressure in cats and dogs is similar to humans. However, due to the stress of coming to the veterinary office, our patients can experience falsely elevated values. Providing a quiet environment with as little stress as possible and feeding treats are excellent ways to decrease the stress of obtaining blood pressure readings.
Our staff and Doctors work hard to keep your fur babies as happy as possible in our care. In the last several months, we have taken steps to encourage Fear Free practices in a effort to reduce the amount of stress, anxiety and/or fear pets feel coming to the doctor. We are proud to announce three of our members have already obtained their certification! Our hope is by promoting, supporting and living Fear Free practices within the hospital that we will help your pet obtain a "pawsitive" state of mind 💙

We will continue to provide curbside appointments moving forward. We kindly ask that you wear a mask or face covering when interacting with our staff.
We prioritize employee and pet parent safety across all sites (both in Texas and across the country). As always, we continue putting care into action and wearing a mask remains one of the key requirements for both employees and pet parents to protect against the coronavirus in all facilities.
We appreciate all of our clients that have been so kind and understanding during this time.
❤️❤️Happy Valentine's Day!!❤️❤️
This is a beautiful picture of a retina with a unique, but normal, optic nerve head in the shape of a heart - which is perfect for Valentine's Day.
To our wonderful clients - thank you for all of your support during these trying times. We realize that this pandemic has created a lot of uncertainty and stress for us all. We are currently experiencing longer than usual wait times. That combined with the inability to come into the hospital with your pet can be stressful. For this, we are sorry.

Moving to curbside service had been an adjustment for us all. We miss having you in the hospital more than you know. Please remember that everything we do is to keep both you and your pet safe and healthy. We ask that you be patient and kind to our team, we promise that we are moving as quickly as we can while maintaining the highest level of care that your pet deserves.

Thank you for supporting us, being kind to our staff, and being such a significant part of our extended family.

Eye Care for Animals is dedicated to providing the finest in veterinary ophthalmology services. Our staff of board certified ophthalmologists and clinical specialists provide the highest level of care, education, and understanding to our clients, their pets, and our referring veterinarians.

Puppies make everything better. Who agrees?❤️❤️ Huckleberry was presented for concerns of vision loss but we found his eyes to be normal today. He is still young and will continue to develop vision/ocular responses in due time. We sure hope to see this little guy again - mostly to give hugs, pets and treats!!

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Effective Thursday, March 19th, 2020, we will be offering “hands-free” appointments and service.
ALL clients and patients are being asked to park in our main parking lot and remain in their vehicles. We ask that you call us at 512-335-3937 and we will provide you with instructions upon your arrival. We are taking this precaution to eliminate constant contact of door handles, counter tops, pens, and to aid in social distancing, eliminating the high number of people that can gather in our lobby area. Our goal is that by taking these safety measures we will be able to remain open to serve the needs of our community’s pets.

During this time, our clinic may experience periods of longer than expected waits as this is new to us. We have many things to work out as we work to become more efficient. We ask that you pre-schedule your appointment and bring your pet on a leash and/or carrier for smaller dogs. All cats must be in a carrier. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Sincerely,
The Team at Eye Care for Animals - Austin

cdc.gov Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China.

03/17/2020

Coronavirus/COVID-19 is a concerning topic for people everywhere, including pet parents. As your
partner in caring for the overall health and wellness of your pets, we want to ensure you still have access
to pet care during this time. As a result, our facility remains open at this time to provide safe service to all.

Be assured that we have procedures in place addressing a variety of health and safety issues, and while
we have always ensured the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation, we have recently updated our
health and safety guidelines in direct response to the emergence of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). These
guidelines are based on guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and
the World Health Organization (WHO).

These include updated hygiene practices, as provided by the CDC, that are good to follow in all seasons.
Things like frequent and thorough hand washing, good coughing and sneezing etiquette, and avoiding
direct contact with others when you are sick. Our team members are being asked to stay home and take
care of themselves if they, or their family members are ill. That's one way we can help minimize the
spread of the illness for both pet parents and team members.

Please continue to schedule your appointments, as needed. However, if you are scheduled or need to
schedule an appointment with our practice and are presenting symptoms of COVID-19, or are confirmed
positive, please contact us so we can provide you options for your pet’s care.

Caring for our team members, our clients, and your pets is the cornerstone of our culture. And at this
time, we'll need everyone's help to do that. We hope by working together, we can all do our part to help
others to stay safe by using these best practices.

This handsome guy came to us for an indolent ulcer. These types of ulcers often need to be treated with a procedure called a diamond burr keratotomy. This procedure uses a fine grit diamond burr to create a "polished" surface by removing unhealthy cells and allowing new cells to adhere to the cornea. With the support of topical medications and oral pain control, these guys generally heal in 2 weeks. His mom calls him a “Chunk of burnin love”.... ❤️....What do you think?

We treat more than dog and cat eyes!

Meet Mika! She's a busy ferret and pictured not looking at the camera. She has inflammation and early cataract formation in one of her eyes. She should still be able to live a happy, visual life with preventative drops. Her brother came in for morale support. Both of them brought many smiles and laughs during the exam. It was a lot of fun meeting this family. We look forward to future visits.

02/14/2020

We wish you and all your critters a Happy Valentine's Day❤️

Happy Valentine's Day!

Are you ready for another sweet baby? Meet Knuckles McGee❤️ He was brought to us for vision problems. We diagnosed him with a genetic condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy, PRA, which eventually leads to blindness. Although, we won't be able to improve his vision, like many dogs- he still has an excellent chance for a long happy life.

01/30/2020

We were honored to have one of Austin's finest visit us today- Taz is a part of the Austin Police Department! Taz needed our expertise for his painful right eye. He has an Indolent ulcer. Dr. Paglia and Tana treated him with a procedure called a diamond burr keratotomy. He's a sweet boy and we can't wait to see him again!
