Behind the scenes of a home portrait commission ✨

Paper is cut to a standard 10x8 size for easy framing, watercolor palette is out, and the mixing wells are ready to go. One thing about me… it hurts my soul to waste paint 😂

That’s why I use these little wells with water when I set my brush down — it keeps all that beautiful pigment from disappearing into the rinse cup. And my favorite studio tool? This little dropper. Such a simple thing, but I use it constantly for mixing colors and controlling the perfect amount of water.

The tiny details and tools are part of what make each painting come to life 🖌️🏡
