We still have a few days left in June for Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! One way to boost cat adoptions is to be well-versed in cat behavior- so we can help advise adopters as they pick out the right cat for their family, and help the new kitty settle in to their new home. Check out this amazing learning opportunity- cat body language!

Join Katenna Jones, shelter division adviser and feline behavior mentor for the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, as she walks you through a detailed process of observing and analyzing cat body language, from the nose to the toes and from the tongue to the tail. This free webinar will help you understand how cats react to stimuli—and how we humans can better describe what we're seeing in the cats we're working with. Get started at https://bit.ly/4otJ2Kd.

📌 All of our webinars are approved for NACA (National Animal Care & Control Association) and CAWA (The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement) credits.

Fantastic news to share!

Breaking News! The state Board of Pesticides Control moved forward today with a restriction on the sale and use of second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). SGARs are powerful toxins that can be accidentally ingested by a host of non-target wildlife, including owls, eagles, foxes, and household pets, causing injury or death.

It's and we're so appreciative of Greater Good Charities and Chewy for their Ambassador program that spreads donated pet food out to organizations across the county!

This past Thursday we welcomed a truckload of Chewy items, from pet food, to cat litter, to a variety of pet supplies, which has been distributed through our hub system statewide. While the food is donated, Maine Humane pays for the shipping costs. If you want to see full pet bellies across our state, please consider a donation to help us keep bringing in the shipments! https://givebutter.com/petpantryproject

Do you run a pet food pantry that is not yet a part of our hub network? Learn more here! https://mainehumane.org/our-work/resource-sharing/pet-food-pantry/
