I first met Jamal years ago when our professional paths crossed at SalesLoft. Even then, his drive and talent were obvious. Later on, I had the privilege of bringing him in as a mentor at Techstars Atlanta. Watching him generously share his expertise and guide new founders through the challenges of building a business was truly inspiring. He has always been someone who lifts up the people around him.
Working alongside dedicated leaders like Jamal is exactly what inspired me to step up and run for office. We need leadership at the State Capitol that understands how to foster innovation, support our local communities, and protect the promise of Georgia so that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Governor Kemp has called a special session, and once again, politicians are prioritizing their own power over the practical needs of Georgians.
Instead of focusing on everyday economic justice, housing affordability, or fixing our broken Medicaid math, they are exploiting the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights Act to gerrymander our maps. At the same time, they are scrambling to fix a voting machine crisis they created themselves. We cannot afford this kind of reckless, politically motivated behavior.

The gas tax suspension ends next Tuesday night at 11:59 PM. You know what else is on Tuesday? Election Day. 🤔
We have a housing crisis, and our property tax system is actually making it worse. 🏠📉
Right now, seniors in District 53 who want to downsize are trapped. If they sell their large family homes to move somewhere smaller, they lose decades of tax exemptions and their property taxes skyrocket. This keeps housing inventory artificially low and hurts young families trying to buy their first home.
We need to introduce tax assessment portability. Seniors should be able to take their tax protections with them when they downsize within the county. It is a practical, common sense fix that helps everyone.
Our housing market is completely disconnected from reality. 📉🏠
We have extreme luxury homes sitting empty for years while the people who keep our community running face double digit rent hikes. It is time to fix our broken housing market. 🏘️
We need attainable housing and "missing middle" solutions so working families can actually afford to live in the communities they serve. My opponent voted against these practical solutions. I will fight for them.
