I've had people ask me this question a lot lately. This video from NOVA is a pretty decent response to get one started but this is just the beginning of the rabbit hole. In concept, this is a convenience for consumers and sellers. In reality, it can be invasive, embarrassing, or even fraudulent. Can you opt out of sending your data? Yes... kinda... but be ready to see ads that are so far fetched that you may run back and allow the ads to show you relevant products.

In the end, keep your personal data close to your vest and only use it online when it's most relevant (easier said than done).
