On this we salute Georgia Trend's 2023 Most Influential Hall of Fame Calvin Smyre ’70, who was featured in the January issue of 100 Most Influential Georgians. Smyre was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1974 as its youngest member at 27 years of age.

“It is hard to imagine the Georgia House of Representatives without its dean: Calvin Smyre, the Columbus Democrat who served for 48 years and was the longest-tenured member of the legislature when he retired last year.”
