Dave has a huge menu for such a small trailer--from essential and designer dogs (with your choice of a dozen toppings), specialty dogs like the Reuben Dog and the Frito Bandito, pulled pork BBQ and chicken salad sandwiches, shrimp/chicken/clam strip baskets, and lots more--and it is all made when you order it. (No heat lamps or microwaves ever!)

Today's dessert special: Turtle cookie bars, $3.

In order with the closest guess first, here are the 32 people who came closest to the number in our NHL Stanley Cup contest, which was 178. Karen always uses player numbers to come up with numbers. In this case, 178 was for Chris Simon #17 (may be rest in peace) and Alex Ovechkin #8. (She used her favorite hockey player of all time--Peter Bondra #12--in the number for the NFL contest. Now you know her secret.) The list is in order from the closest guess to the 32nd closest guess.

If you need food for your dog or cat, please come to the Animal Services Center Friday September 18, from 11a-5p & Saturday, September 19, from 10a-3p. This is an in-person event at the Prince William County Animal Services Center. If you are in immediate need of pet food before or after September 18 & 19 or are unable to pick up food during the hours above, please contact [email protected].

As a reminder, citizens may request dog and/or cat food (typically kibble) from the front desk at Animal Services Center any time.

Engine 252 was one of only four recovered from the World Trade Center after September 11. None of the crew survived. (They were last seen headed into one of the towers.) It was at the PWCPD event today. Looking at it and reading about those very brave firefighters made us too emotional to speak. Karen couldn't stop sobbing and Dave struggled to control his emotions. A grateful nation remembers.

Today's the day! Go by 9 PM, mention PWAA, and 15% of your order will be donated to Prince William Animal Advocates. Karen went by after our event today. It was delicious!

It's not all that common that a shelter dog (or even cat) gets along with everyone (dogs, cats, kids, adults) and would be a good addition to literally any home, but that is Star. What a gift it would be to find someone who could give this sweet girl a new home--she ended up in the shelter when her owner died. It's such a sad story, but we know how much that owner must have loved Star because he (or she) helped to make her the amazing girl she is.

On this very somber day of remembrance, a reminder that here in our own county (Prince William) is a very special memorial to the victims of 9/11, including 22 county residents who lost their lives that day.

Prince William County lost 22 residents in the Sept. 11th attacks: 19 at the Pentagon and 3 in New York City. One of those three was Jeff Simpson of Dumfries, Virginia. Outside of his work at Oracle Systems, Jeff served as a volunteer with a local ambulance squad helping others in their time of need. He just so happened to be in New York on the day of the terrorist attacks and was last seen heading towards the north tower to try and help. 2,977 people lost their lives as a result of 9/11 including hundreds of first responders.

In 2010, Prince William County submitted a request to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to acquire Trade Center steel to build a memorial for those who were lost. Granted the steel in 2011, a contest was held for the design leading to the monument you see dedicated in 2013 at the County government center.
Honor and remember those whose lives were cut short 25 years ago. We will never forget.
