The Hope 4 Tomorrow Mentoring Program has had another impactful year! Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, our matches were able to enjoy a wide variety of enriching activities including horseback riding, art and cooking classes, a Braves game, zip lining, theatre productions, fly fishing, a boat ride, and much more. Our amazing mentors and mentees have worked together forming meaningful relationships, building important life skills, honing academic performance, and learning new tools for success as they journey into adulthood. Holiday Advice for Mentors
"One piece of advice I would give mentors is to validate the emotions of youth that they experience, especially during the holidays. The feeling of loneliness under a smile might quickly turn into frustration, anger or just sadness, and that's ok. Listen to them. Comfort them. Don't try to save them or "make up" for what they might have missed out on. It's also very important to (if the child is comfortable with) talking about what their holidays were at home or with someone special in their life. Not all had "bad" holiday experiences, and not all had "joyous" holiday experiences, so it's good for them to take control in telling their story." - KW, former foster youth
