Update: With broken hearts, we have had to close both Java Cats locations due to financial difficulties and impossible challenges of the pandemic. Will reopen one day. ļæ½

I’ve been missing the cafĆ©, cats, and community so much lately. It’s been almost 3 years since we’ve closed but I somehow still feel like I could walk right into those doors and jump right back into it all over again. ā¤ļø

I made some emotional support merch for myself but decided to turn it into a pop-up shop just in case anyone wants to be nostalgic too! Funds from my storefront will help us take care of some upcoming vet expenses for our senior crew.

Times are tough out there for so many of us and I miss more than anything having a magical safe space that was open to everyone. I’m hopeful that one day, somewhere, somehow, we will be back.

Thank you all for the best 5 years of my life!!!!

Long time no see! This has definitely been the longest hiatus I have ever taken from this account since starting it in 2016. If you are still here, thank you. I will definitely do a life update soon for those interested. Soooo much has happened. But, that isn’t why I’m making this post.

If you don’t know - let me introduce you.

Carey worked at the tattoo shop next door to Grant Park, so she would regularly come in for a vegan granola bar and a tea. (I think everyone’s order will be forever ingrained in my memory lol.)

We bonded over our love for animals but she primarily rescued dogs and needed some help with a few feral cats.

Annnnnnd the rest is history.

For years we have worked together to TNR, hot potato around, save, fix, rescue, and find homes for SO many cats since then. (And of course save a few opposums and squirrels too.) šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Carey lives down the road from a trailer park that during Covid, made the residences comply to an 2 animal household rule, which meant, people were dumping animals outside so they wouldn’t get in trouble. UNFIXED. Animals.

The situation turned dire and she was able to help not just a lot of animals, but so so many people who needed help. I was able to help her find homes for so many cats from there. But during that time, it was a nightmare. So many places were closed or limited to get animals fixed or even vetted.

Rescue work has only gotten harder and more expensive since the pandemic, but Carey has not stopped & she has many animals in her care that she hasn’t been able to find homes for.

She does this all on her own, never wanting recognition for any of the blood, sweat, and tears that have been shed. She just does it. With her own money, time, and resources. And SO MANY ANIMALS HAVE BEEN SAVED because of this incredible human I am so honored to call my friend.

Please consider supporting and donating. So many people want to help animals but are limited. THIS is one of the best ways you can get involved right now.
It’s the most rewarding thankless job. Please join me and let’s .

Last August, I posted about two tiny kittens my friend found taped in a cardboard box by a dumpster. One kitten had already passed, but Steve saved Iggy and Ziggy just in time. He brought them by our house late one evening to get some supplies to care for them.

They are now 8-9 months old, fixed, microchipped and have their 1st shots.ā¤ļø A few adopters fell through, so I’m hoping to give them a little extra love and exposure to help find this a sweet pair an amazing home soon!

If anyone is interested in learning more about these two, please reach out to and share this post!šŸ¤ž

The old Java Cats parking lot was the halfway point to pick up a kitten today. šŸ„¹šŸ«¶ā¤ļø That area still sometimes makes me sad…but if I’m honest, my biggest regret is the fact we missed out on being neighbor’s with .šŸ¦Miss you ATL!!!!
