New research is pushing back on the "AI is coming for your job" narrative. A Lloyds Business Barometer study found 54% of UK businesses say AI has already created new jobs within their organization, not eliminated them.
Companies are backing that up with real investment. 58% plan to increase AI skills spending over the next year. Some firms expect to spend up to £250,000 on training. Nearly a quarter now prioritize AI skills when hiring, and 21% are creating brand new AI-specific roles.
The gap that remains is real too. 31% of businesses admit their current workforce still lacks the AI skills they actually need. The upskilling push is happening because the gap exists, not because it's already closed.
