Make Music Count
Make Music Count is a mathematics curriculum and app that is taught through playing popular songs on the piano.
In our lessons 2nd - 12th grade students will immediately play their favorite songs on the piano through direct math application.
Introducing Make Music Count to the 4th graders of West Clayton Elementary School
Grateful for our continued partnership with Lancaster ISD in Texas. Now our implementation is district wide. In this video you’ll see 3rd graders using our app through clever on their Chromebooks. Tag a district that use our math resource in their music classes, intervention spaces, & enrichment spaces.
There’s no better way to draw potential customers to your booth than a floor piano!!
Entrepreneurs know..get it done by any means! I had to virtual teach Make Music Count to 100 students in my first LAUSD middle school…but also had to pick up my kids from school. So class was taught in the car in my kids school parking lot 😂. Shoutout to my children who were so good for Daddy and sat as quiet as possible while I taught a 30 minute class.
Math was intimidating for me until I saw that you needed math in order to play the piano…one example (the foundation of Make Music Count) is looking at the piano as a number line. Each movement from piano key to piano key I saw as a half interval instead of the music theory term “half step”. Integrating piano playing with number lines and fractions increased my confidence in my ability to learn math. Now the same integration approach is used to help all children increase their confidence in math.

Last week i had the privilege of visiting Chico California to lead a discussion on “The importance of integrating subjects” and Make Music Count was used as an example of this being done with mathematics and music. It’s important to continue being creative to reach students where they are allowing them to reach their full educational potential.
I can’t wait to see Spider-Man Brand New Day! Let’s play the theme song by practicing dividing by 5!

I’ve been so blessed with a phenomenal team of teachers who led the Make Music Count enrichment programs with Inglewood Unified School District for the last school year and summer.
They were excellent! The students loved them and I can’t wait to continue our work together for next school year! They didn’t have me eat crickets this time 😂
👑 TO THE SIXERS!!! WOW!! Well let’s celebrate this announcement the Make Music Count way. Solving algebra equations to play the Philly national anthem “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill on the piano
