I had the honor and pleasure of making dessert for my grandma’s birthday party. She loves upside down cake so, I made peach cobbler upside down cake. I have not been shy about giving her credit for her amazing recipes and impact in my life. These cakes are just another way I honor her. Happy 80th birthday, Grandma Alice! A huge thank you to all our lovely Sweeties who supported our local business at the Juneteenth market! Because of you, we were able to donate $255 ($85 each) to the Panzi Foundation, the Sudanese American Physician Association, and Fed Up for Palestine.

In celebration of Juneteenth this year, we chose to use our resources, platform, and Sweet Cakes community to aid in the liberation of Congo, Sudan, and Palestine.

Throughout African American history, especially during the civil rights movement, Black-owned businesses united to feed and provide shelter to Black students involved in marches and protests. Sweet Cakes by Lex will always follow in the footsteps of our ancestors by supporting the liberation of all who are oppressed. Taking care of folks and standing on the right side of history will always be intertwined with our business.
